I think my alarm keyfob must be running low on battery power, sometimes I need to be really close to the car for it to work. Is this a sign that I need to change, it has been like this a while.... Or will it last another 6 months like this? Also, what happens if it doesn't work at all! I guess I get in and press the stud thing to switch off tha alarm???? Anybody?

Hi fellow MLOC'ers, Here's a little teaser for you. Does anyone know the design percentage transfer of weight from rear to front under a braking force of 1g for a standard S1 Elise. Trying to do some maths relating to brake bias front to rear, and mass/traction. Is it hidden in some vehicle spec details that someone is aware of ?

Well, its time to get my new boots and Im a bit confused about tyre choice. Got an S1, standard suspension and all that, running with PZeros (Zero being the approx amount of tread in mm all round ). Ive got 185 on the front and 205 on the back. Going to Horizon to get it all done and Wendy asked me which set I wanted. Either: a. 185/55/15(front) + 205/50/16 (rear) b. 195/50/15(front) + 225/45/16(rear) I understand its (width/series/rim diameter) , but whats the middle number mean? Anyone here got any info on the options above? My main concern is fit on opt b- I think it should fit, but am not sure- anyone here got this combo? Dont really want any rubbing …

Putting together some *detailed* info on my accident in February and wondering if anyone knows the width of an Elise at the front + width at rear as well as including wing mirrirs. I have found dims on Elise faq I believe, but it only shows an overall width-I believe the car is narrower at front..Any info really/direction really appreciated

Just been out and bought an S1, hopefully picking it up next week and assuming I don't wrap it around the nearest lamppost I'm planning on fitting a hardtop. The only trouble is it's a May '98 version, which as I gather it requires a modification to the cant rails. Can anyone advise what work needs doing?

On most (normal) cars, rotating the tyres, side to side - front to rear evens out the tyre wear and used to form part of the routeen maintenance. Anyone got an opinion on rotating the brake disk on the Elise. My disks are nearing the limit (24mm) on the front, and whilst I would like to replace all 4 with those sexy ali belled ones, I was thinks or swapping front to rear and spending the money on doing 2 days at Spa next month instead. Pads should be good for one more round of abuse... Any opinions..

Does anyone know if there is a significant increase in wind resistance with the hood down? Seems to be alot of wind buffeting at the rear screen, especially on the motorway, and I remember Mr Clarkson saying how much petrol consumption increases in a regular car if you wind the windows down... Its not gonna stop me putting the hood down but I just wondered. I assume the Elise design was put through the wind tunnel?

Bloody thing.................a few times in the past when i've turned the car off the key has come out and the car has kept running, had to put it back in and wiggle it to stop it, however today the key wouldnt come out, finally came out and now it wont go back in and turn, something is jammed in there, feels like its going to break and the ignition lights dont come on anymore, got to ring bramalls and get them to come and get it, its under warranty still, Thats why i was going to fit the starter button, to take the strain of the key
