S1 Engine Cover Lid Mech

Last night i went to stick my bag in the boot and found that the spring locator and a black mounting plate had parted company with the lid. Any ideas how these to fit together??

 

I'm thinking the mounting plate fits somehow into the lid??

 

any info will be helpful !!

If I'm picturing the right parts, the black plate isn't flat, and has a thread in its centre. That part needs to be slid into the slot in the boot lid. The spring shaft can then be screwed into the plate to hold the whole assembly in place.

 

Now that's all from memories of adjusitng it a year ago, so I'm sure I've missed some pertinent points!

Ok, cheers for that, thought as much, its going to be a little bit of a tricky job........"something for the weekend Sir???"

Just make sure that when you do the final tightening, that it is definitely in the right place because if its not.........

Use some masking tape or paper over the lower half of the lock so you can bring the spring section down carefully and make sure it's lined up properly. Good luck.
