And so the winter refresh of my S1 Elise started today. Hoping to take front clam of tomorrow. However of the 4 lower bolts that hold the lower rear to the chassis, 2 are spinning and 2 won't budge despite copious amounts of penetrative oil over the last few months. The Eagle eyed will spot my Dremel tool which I'm not looking forward to using to remove 4 bolt heads that have limited access. Currently on my list are replacing the driving lights brackets, shot blast and paint the tow post, new front badge, replace all fluids, replacing leaking drivers side transmission seal, shotblast and paint the wishbones Probably change the radiator to, and fix/replace whatev…

I've previously had my 2002 S2 (K-Series) serviced by Steve Guglielmi in Daventry - but believe he's now moved to Lotus dealership at Silverstone. Does anyone know a good reliable independent Lotus specialist in the Daventry / Northampton region??? Many thanks!!!

I have bought LED bulb kits to replace the existing poor halogen H1 and H7 bulbs. These are somewhat bigger beyond the lens due to inbuilt cooling fans. The H1’s dipped headlight have gone in nice and easy, but the main beam H7’s will not go in with the light fitting in situ. Has anyone had to remove the fitting and how easy is it to do? I think that the bulb kit will fit by removing the fitting, it just will not go in due to the angle needed to locate through back of the lens. Due to the bulkiness of the cooling fan and the angle of the inside of the clam it just will not pass. when refitting will I need a garage to realign the lights to make legal? Thanks …

Hi Everyone I am new to the forum and will be picking up an S3 Elise next weekend. Have previously had 5 Lotus cars M100 Elan SE M100 Elan S2 Elise 111R Elise R Exige S (Series 2) I am interested in fitting a navigation system to the car - something like this - Alpine - INE-F904D 1DIN Chassis – 9-inch Touch Screen, built-in Navigation, DAB+, HDMI and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto combatibility and would be interested to see if anyone else has gone down this route. I had them in one of the Elise's and the Exige previously but they were non airbag cars and I used a flip out screen which worked really well - just want to see people's …

I am wanting to upgrade the standard suspension on my S2 Elise. I was going to get a set of Nitrons as they come highly recommended. However, I have been offered a used (500 miles only) set of Bilstein B16 PSS10 (Clubsport) for quite a bit less than I would have to pay for a set of new Nitrons. The Billy’s sell for upwards of £3.5k new so is this too good an opportunity to miss? Use Case: Fast road with a few track days Thoughts?

Anyone else got bent needles on their Speedo and rev counter? Mine have been this way for a long time now so over reading all the time. Reset performed but of course makes no difference.

I have an early (1997) S1 Elise and somewhere along the years I've misplaced the original spark plug cover. It never really bothered me because it's lived in a garage (mostly) or at least under cover most of the time. I've read on here that the S2 cover fits (and does a better job of keeping rain out) - can anybody confirm this? Does it use longer bolts to fix? The S2 part number seems to be LDR000400 Apologies if there's a thread on this already, I did a search and found a mention of the S2 cover fitting but no details. TIA, Adam

Hi all. I've got an S1 with a K20 conversion that is currently sitting on ancient Yoko Advan Neova LTS (which aren't made anymore) that need to go in the bin. Sizes are 195/50R15 front and 225/45R16 rear. I'm finding that the 15 inch front wheels really limits the choice of tyres, especially combined with my desire for something road-biased. I understand later Elises had Yoko v105 as the OE spec but these aren't available for 15 inch rims. I contacted a Lotus dealership to see what they would normally recommend and they suggested Yoko AD08RS, but from what I can see this is a) more of a road-useable track-day tyre and b) really poorly reviewed following the change in comp…

Anyone know which TRD air filter is typically fitted to Elise S? Mines a 2013 if that's a factor. Edit: Toyota engine 1800 supercharged.

Hi everyone, Does anyone know how to remove an airbag steering wheel from a S3 Elise please? I've done a google search and it looks like they are attached with allen bolts rather than a nut so I assume this makes it easier to remove the wheel but I'm not sure on the process or how simple it is to do myself. I'm going to have my wheel recovered but would like to avoid leaving the car at the garage whilst this is completed. Thanks Simon

OK. I picked up my Lotus Elise S2 last Wednesday. By Friday afternoon, the front splitter had fallen off and IMHO is damaged beyond repair as I dragged it down the road under the car for 300 yards. Anyway............... This one was fitted by Paul Matty back in 2017 and is listed on the receipt as: Front Splitter in GRP (Elise S2). I liked it as it was quite subtle. Life is too short to mess around with this so I'm just going to get another and was wondering what people recommend.

Hi All, Having had my Elise for a whopping 25 years, it is currently producing about 160 bhp. I was hoping to get ITBs etc fitted, and as the car lives in North Wales DVA Power seemed to be a good choice, if not around the corner, but I am not sure if they are still taking work on? Are there many Midlands/NW choices for K Series tinkering? thanks in advance TH

Damsel in distress Hi Please can someone help as for months now I have had an engine warning light coming on intermittently on my Elise SC 2008. I have had new sensors and a new ECU but now the fault code has changed to P0172. It has passed the MOT, emissions are fine, it runs fine, tried putting in a new catalytic converter, but the warning light came on with that too. Fuel pressure checked and fine, temperature sensor reading fine, live data checked and fine. It is an intermittent fault, so appears after a few short drives and there is no pattern as to when the engine management warning light will come on. It is becoming a costly investigati…

Being an old fart, I'm not familiar with modern car technology. My Elise S3 ECU light is permanently lit. I know that this is a 'take to your friendly and expensive Lotus technician' scenario but I've heard that this is quite common. Oil level is fine, haven't changed fuel octane. Maybe air filter. Any feedback would be great. Also, advice on ECU reader suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi everyone, I know this has probably been done to death, but is there any update on whether anyone is putting together a list of people who need window seals, part numbers C117U0009F & C117U0010F, in case we can get a bulk buy discount? Many thanks.
