The brakes on my Elise 240 FE never felt brilliant but at 2.5 years old in the cold and wet did nothing when pressed, a few pumps later and some braking happened. I took it in and the pads (oem from new) were glazed. I replaced them with Pagid RS42 and updated fluid. Difference was night and day. Now, a year and maybe 3500 miles on and the pedal feel is a little wooden again (like can brake light or hard but nothing in between) and they are squealing really bad at town driving speeds and light braking (no squeal if I hit them hard). Today I stripped the fronts down, both inside pads had the central vent clogged, so cleaned those out, the surface of the pads were giv…

Elise S2 k series with standard geometry so set up to understeer gently. Which is exactly what I've been getting on runs out. Car is on the recommended yoko v105 tyres. There a two types the ones to get have a slightly stiffer sidewall and are recommended for mercs iirc. V105 is in my experience a very competent road tyre for all seasons and daily driving. Definitely recommended. V105 thoughts coming off a no longer available very old and hard and narrower front tyre. As normal Tyre pressure sensitive. Worked best for me at 23f 25r. Rides nice compliant and quiet. Softer sidewall and tread pattern? That very small nuance of Initial turn in to me …

Mileage has shown gentle progression up to 21,249 for last years MOT. Just checked mileage before I take him for this years MOT, and its dropped to 19,805! Has anyone else experienced this and could enlighten me of the possible cause. Makes it look as though I've 'clocked' the car!! Thanks, Andrew

My S2 Elise shows 14.1 volts when its being charged. SWMBOs S1 shows 15.6 volts on a brand new battery. Both K Series Engines with identical chargers. Does this point to an earthing problem on the S1, if so, all suggestions as to where this fault may be are appreciated. Thanks, Andrew

After much deliberation, I took the plunge and have sent my 2006 111R in for a full 2 stage paint correction and ceramic coat. The first 2 pictures show the surface swirls that were on the car that show up in the light, no doubt after 18 years of washing and use. (Even though its garaged and not used in the wet) Overall the paint is really good, but the aged paint swirls let it down. Took it to a local professional detailer, as I didnt think I could do any where near as good a job as the car deserves. He has sent me a number of pics and videos of the 20hrs spent cutting and polishing. Today the ceramic coat goes on and I pick up tonight! Looking forward …

Any recommendations for speakers to replace the OEM ones in an S3 Elise? Currently have the in-dash fronts only but want to fit rear ones also. Got a new stereo (Power Acoustic CP-71W) ready to fit once I get the car back from the suspension investigation and wanting to do the speakers too, think adding the rears will improve the sound and what I can hear, esp when the roof is off. Have updated the stereo firmware already so it does Android Auto as well as Apple CarPlay now Have also changed the boot-up screen, well had to be done didn't it

The Alcantara seats on SWMBO's S1 Elise have started to look very tired and worn. I've found these on evilBay, from a VX220 apparently. Does anyone know if they will fit straight in? Thanks an advance, Andrew

I found the standard exhaust note on the Emira a bit too quiet for my tastes. To bring back some of that character (when compared to the Evora and Exige!), I decided to fit the Exhaust Valve Controller from Seriously Lotus – and I’m very pleased with the results. It's an easy DIY for anyone who's interested, with minimal tools needed. This controller gives you three modes: Valve closed – Ideal for track day noise restrictions Valve open – Full-on noise and drama! Factory mode – Retains the ECU-controlled behaviour I chose the Seriously Lotus unit because, it’s good quality (the remote feels better quality that th…

As an upgrade , the usual suspects seem to be Nitron, Quantum, GAZ Gold and, if you can find them, Ohlins. But does anyone have any knowledge or experience of the option from Penske? Quite a lot of info on Lotustalk , as they are a popular high end suspension upgrade for the S2/3 that the Americans have . ? I ask having now done a few hundred miles on my Bilsteins , I am not convinced that they control the unsprung weight well. An upgrade is the next obvious step but I have experienced before the difference between ‘ mid range ‘ and ‘ high end’ , and in my view there is one . Any thoughts appreciated .
