Hi everyone, Does anyone know how to remove an airbag steering wheel from a S3 Elise please? I've done a google search and it looks like they are attached with allen bolts rather than a nut so I assume this makes it easier to remove the wheel but I'm not sure on the process or how simple it is to do myself. I'm going to have my wheel recovered but would like to avoid leaving the car at the garage whilst this is completed. Thanks Simon

OK. I picked up my Lotus Elise S2 last Wednesday. By Friday afternoon, the front splitter had fallen off and IMHO is damaged beyond repair as I dragged it down the road under the car for 300 yards. Anyway............... This one was fitted by Paul Matty back in 2017 and is listed on the receipt as: Front Splitter in GRP (Elise S2). I liked it as it was quite subtle. Life is too short to mess around with this so I'm just going to get another and was wondering what people recommend.

Hi All, Having had my Elise for a whopping 25 years, it is currently producing about 160 bhp. I was hoping to get ITBs etc fitted, and as the car lives in North Wales DVA Power seemed to be a good choice, if not around the corner, but I am not sure if they are still taking work on? Are there many Midlands/NW choices for K Series tinkering? thanks in advance TH

Damsel in distress Hi Please can someone help as for months now I have had an engine warning light coming on intermittently on my Elise SC 2008. I have had new sensors and a new ECU but now the fault code has changed to P0172. It has passed the MOT, emissions are fine, it runs fine, tried putting in a new catalytic converter, but the warning light came on with that too. Fuel pressure checked and fine, temperature sensor reading fine, live data checked and fine. It is an intermittent fault, so appears after a few short drives and there is no pattern as to when the engine management warning light will come on. It is becoming a costly investigati…

Being an old fart, I'm not familiar with modern car technology. My Elise S3 ECU light is permanently lit. I know that this is a 'take to your friendly and expensive Lotus technician' scenario but I've heard that this is quite common. Oil level is fine, haven't changed fuel octane. Maybe air filter. Any feedback would be great. Also, advice on ECU reader suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi everyone, I know this has probably been done to death, but is there any update on whether anyone is putting together a list of people who need window seals, part numbers C117U0009F & C117U0010F, in case we can get a bulk buy discount? Many thanks.

I hope the MLOC Team can advise! The header tank cooling levels, on my 2002 S2 Elise, has started fluctuating 20mm below the min level, when cold, to just below the max level when warm. Images below (I hope) I’ve had the car from new and the coolant level has stayed consistent between the min and max levels until now!! There is no obvious coolant loss under the car and the oil dip stick and oil filler cap are just showing clean oil. I have changed the pressure cap but this has not changed the situation. Im not sure what my options are and PJS/Unit 4 are over an hours drive away and I’m reluctant to travel that distance!! Any help and or advise is…

A few days ago the engine management light came on on my 2008 Elise. My OBD reader said fault P0638 which is to do with the throttle control I believe. Have sprayed the throttle position sensor contacts with contact cleaner and removed the air inlet pipe, the valve rotates by finger when I push it and then rotates back when I release. The light has gone of and engine idling ok, but i'm getting this buzzing sound when the ignition is on, which goes away when the engine is started. Maybe the buzzing sound has always been there and I've never noticed. Is it normal ? 20230806_170618.mp4

Hi folks . Just doing little ferrying jobs on the exige whilst I wait my new harnesses touching down so I can actually drive the thing . despite being relatively new and not rusted in place the rear retaining screws on my discs appear to have developed a cheese like consistency and I have had to remove with larger torx fitting . Does anyone know what size the bolts are and if an off the shelf euro car parts item will suffice as I can’t bring myself to pay the 8.34 postal charge for a £4 item from the usual lotus suppliers ? or if anyone has 2 spare they could pop in the post in exchange for a beer at LITP or similar meat that would be awesome cheers rich

On Sunday evening after a glorious and spirited drive back through the Welsh mountains the dash temp gauge began to fluctuate at 67/68 then jump back to 87/88 then drop to 79/80 and has continued to do this after an evening left on the drive to rest . A bit of googling suggests the blue thermostat / sensor may be shot and needs replacing . the car is a 99 S1 Elise and despite a reasonable search I can’t find a definitive guide to how to change this part . I am hopeful it can be quickly removed and a new one fitted without the need to drain down the whole system and hopefully will only need under trays and wheel arch liners out . Or am I dreaming ? as ever , any a…

I think it’ll be obvious as to where to re-attach the coil spring once I get myself folded into the Lotus-position, but where has the hair-spring come from?!

Hi I need of some info / help The car is 2004 Elise 111R and I'm looking at fitting quantum dampers which come supplied with new damper mounts. I'm tackling the Front drivers side first....the other wheels seems a little more straight forward. All bolts/nuts come undone easily bar one (highlighted by the orange circles in the pics) this particular bolt/nut is quite rusty, its been covered in WD40 but its no use as the whole thing just twists, so it's not really coming undone, managed to get a little bit undone. Clearance is also extremely tight so not able to fit many tools in the gap. 1) Any idea how to undo it? or is there a way to get at it from…

Hi all, My son and I are new owners of a 2005 Elise 111R and we need a little help with a couple of things! We did manage to find Lotus in the Peak today but didnt know where to start! 1. The alarm - it went off on the first night we had it last night. No idea why - so we just lock it now with the key, hoping it wont go off again, so far so good. Does anyone know of a mechanic near Sheffield who can either test it all or remove the alarm? 2. Also - when we go on holiday can i remove the battery to ensure the neighbours dont suffer any more false alarms? 3. Anyone know of any Sheffield (or close by - derbyshire / yorkshire) Lotus mechanics, not…
