Now I've sorted the handling and tyres on my Elise, I can finally start to fine tune some bits that I don't particularly like. My Elise has a Larini exhaust fitted (which I really like). However, it has a twin tail pipe (titanium) which sits under the rear diffuser. I'd prefer to have an Oval one which sits more flush with the hole in the diffuser. Do I...... 1. Get a new exhaust from Larini along the lines of what I want. 2. Take the car to someone to get the tailpipes replaced? I'm sure I'd have no problem selling the exhaust as is and buying a replacement. Can anyone send me pictures of what they have fitted to their Elise to give me some ideas. …

Hi. I’m looking for someone to refurbish my rear brembo callipers, I have had a quote from Brake Calliper Specilaists in Nottingham which looks competitive and they have good Google reviews. Does anyone have first hand experience with them? Jim

Hi all, out of curiosity has anybody experienced anything in relation to fan bearings going ? when driving it maintains a steady 90degrees in traffic the highest I’ve seen it go is 105degrees at the point the fans are embarrassingly loud. What sort of time frame have you got left until these fans essentially give up ? I have got the car booked in how ever it’s more a drive ability in the mean time or is it a case of park it up and leave it alone until they’re sorted ? Has anybody experienced the same / similar? also has anybody had the conversion done to top mount the radiators ? Many thanks.

I am wanting to upgrade the standard suspension on my S2 Elise. I was going to get a set of Nitrons as they come highly recommended. However, I have been offered a used (500 miles only) set of Bilstein B16 PSS10 (Clubsport) for quite a bit less than I would have to pay for a set of new Nitrons. The Billy’s sell for upwards of £3.5k new so is this too good an opportunity to miss? Use Case: Fast road with a few track days Thoughts?

I've previously had my 2002 S2 (K-Series) serviced by Steve Guglielmi in Daventry - but believe he's now moved to Lotus dealership at Silverstone. Does anyone know a good reliable independent Lotus specialist in the Daventry / Northampton region??? Many thanks!!!

Hi all. Bought my car in may last year, drove it 150 miles home and put another 200 miles or so on it over the next 3 months and one day this code pops up relating to the idle rpm higher than expected. Ive checked for vac leaks, had the throttle body off to clean it and the icv, Also cleaned the maf. It was ok for another 2 drives and then came back on again. Car runs well and the idle speed is pretty steady. Ive read that the throttle body itself can wear but this seems odd at 65000 miles, didnt look that bad when i had it off for cleaning. Im not sure where to go next, dont really want to throw £1000 at a throttle body tbh if its just a gue…

Hi all, Ive been trying to reprogramme a new key fob for our S1 Elise without any luck whatsoever!! Ove followed the manuals instructions but when it says switch ignition on and insert touch key the alarm tell tale will light steady - well it doesn't light at all, therefore no progress to the further steps, Its been one of those frustrating things where I repeat the same steps over and over again hoping for a different result!! I'm fairly sure I am just missing something very simple here but can't just put my finger on it. Would appreciate anyone's thoughts on this. Many thanks in advance,

Hi HNY all and hope you had a great festive break? one of my new year resolutions is to repair/rebuild a Lotus Elise S2. Model/spec I’m not glued too, but keen for a avg or low mileage loved car. wanted to reach out if anyone is thinking of selling their S2 that’s damaged/cat n or requiring project. I’m not a trader, just someone who has a passion to own a lotus, and love to tinker, rebuild and be a forever car. im based in Leicestershire, happy to travel. I will of course be sneaking a lot of advice and will be recording the restoration/catch up on car meets. pls delete if this post is not allowed. many thanks

I have an early (1997) S1 Elise and somewhere along the years I've misplaced the original spark plug cover. It never really bothered me because it's lived in a garage (mostly) or at least under cover most of the time. I've read on here that the S2 cover fits (and does a better job of keeping rain out) - can anybody confirm this? Does it use longer bolts to fix? The S2 part number seems to be LDR000400 Apologies if there's a thread on this already, I did a search and found a mention of the S2 cover fitting but no details. TIA, Adam

I helped a friend install the engine in his S4 Esprit Turbo recently. It was an absolute pleasure, he was so well prepared. Here's a very short video: Paul

I have bought LED bulb kits to replace the existing poor halogen H1 and H7 bulbs. These are somewhat bigger beyond the lens due to inbuilt cooling fans. The H1’s dipped headlight have gone in nice and easy, but the main beam H7’s will not go in with the light fitting in situ. Has anyone had to remove the fitting and how easy is it to do? I think that the bulb kit will fit by removing the fitting, it just will not go in due to the angle needed to locate through back of the lens. Due to the bulkiness of the cooling fan and the angle of the inside of the clam it just will not pass. when refitting will I need a garage to realign the lights to make legal? Thanks …

Hi Everyone I am new to the forum and will be picking up an S3 Elise next weekend. Have previously had 5 Lotus cars M100 Elan SE M100 Elan S2 Elise 111R Elise R Exige S (Series 2) I am interested in fitting a navigation system to the car - something like this - Alpine - INE-F904D 1DIN Chassis – 9-inch Touch Screen, built-in Navigation, DAB+, HDMI and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto combatibility and would be interested to see if anyone else has gone down this route. I had them in one of the Elise's and the Exige previously but they were non airbag cars and I used a flip out screen which worked really well - just want to see people's …

Hi all. I've got an S1 with a K20 conversion that is currently sitting on ancient Yoko Advan Neova LTS (which aren't made anymore) that need to go in the bin. Sizes are 195/50R15 front and 225/45R16 rear. I'm finding that the 15 inch front wheels really limits the choice of tyres, especially combined with my desire for something road-biased. I understand later Elises had Yoko v105 as the OE spec but these aren't available for 15 inch rims. I contacted a Lotus dealership to see what they would normally recommend and they suggested Yoko AD08RS, but from what I can see this is a) more of a road-useable track-day tyre and b) really poorly reviewed following the change in comp…
