Hi Guys, Recently purchased a set of 135 cams to go in my standard 1.8k (2001 S2). I'm no mechanic but i've done most things on this car but never anything inside the engine (changed the belt and waterpump but that's outside!) Part of me thinks that I'd try and carefully muddle through, but I wondered if anyone who has done it before would be kind enough to assist / oversee? I'm really set on doing it myself rather than giving the car to a garage as I'm always trying to learn and improve my skills but as this is the first time delving into the engine I'd love a bit of a safety net! I'm happy to exchange some of my skills for the help, for exam…

Hi all, My first post on here, so go easy! I’ve searched the forum but couldn’t see an answer. I have a 2016 Lotus Evora 400 and the air conditioning compressor/pump has failed. My garage are telling me that they can’t find one anywhere. I presume it’s a readily stocked, Toyota item? Does anyone know the Toyota part number? thanks Neil

Intermittently SWMBOs brakes on her S1 are sticking on - all 4 judging by the heat in the wheels! The pedal goes rock hard when this happens, but will free off on its own. There was that much resistance the other day, I could barely reverse into the garage, but after 15 mins, they'd magically freed off again. Brake fluid is clean, the car never gets wet, so surely all 4 callipers cant be sticking at once? Putting my head into the footwell, I noticed there was some rust on the 'piston' as it disappeared through the grommet on the bulkhead. I'm booked into my local Lotus expert next week, but want to ensure safe arrival at Bamford on Sunday, so if there's anything you …

Hi All So I'm planning on buying an Exige S3 V6 and exporting it to France. Here in France they make it so difficult to register a RHD car and this has got significantly worse since Brexit. They ask to type approval inspections and would you believe they ask for LHD wing mirror glass. Incase you don't know the concave shapes differs on some cars to account for the driving position. On a Lotus they are they same. What prompts them to ask for an inspection is this statement on the Certificate of Conformity saying the car can be registered in member states driving on the left and with imperial units. This CoC example is from Elliot who has a 2005 111r and it says effec…

I finally found a new Lotus one at a sensible price. Off to be carbon wrapped and red striped this week so it’s ready to be fitted when I get back off my hols. As much as I’d of liked a carbon one, the price tag was a little restrictive!! I’m looking forward to going down some hills with you all without the fear of ripping the front off my car!!!! In other news…… I dropped my car into Lotus Silverstone this morning to have a few niggles sorted under warranty. Note to self: Don’t go to Silverstone the day after the British GP 🙄

Came to put the trickle charger on when I got home from LiTP and it appears the cable has snapped. The Tbar/lever moves freely up and down with no tension in it at all. I have pulled back the wheel liner and can see the spring/latch, but can't work out what I need to do to release the bonnet. Advice as always much appreciated. Cheers, Andrew

Any recommendations for somewhere to repair a front clam? Front tow strut has been pulled out by the previous owner or is this a new clam job?

Dear All, I brought my S2 to the mechanic as I found emulsion in the expansion tank. On top of changing the head gasket he says he wants to check the coolant-to-oil cooler he found. I was not aware that a S2 111s has such a piece of equipment. Here are some pictures. Someone can tell me more? https://drive.google.com/file/d/1WFOxC-evurNKdQevUPHO6ggGQWOwafHW/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/1rTHdohKV41xY5eUNgQnaEz5GAeomALwY/view?usp=sharing Regards,

And so the winter refresh of my S1 Elise started today. Hoping to take front clam of tomorrow. However of the 4 lower bolts that hold the lower rear to the chassis, 2 are spinning and 2 won't budge despite copious amounts of penetrative oil over the last few months. The Eagle eyed will spot my Dremel tool which I'm not looking forward to using to remove 4 bolt heads that have limited access. Currently on my list are replacing the driving lights brackets, shot blast and paint the tow post, new front badge, replace all fluids, replacing leaking drivers side transmission seal, shotblast and paint the wishbones Probably change the radiator to, and fix/replace whatev…

Morning folks . Car just back from service and MOT , with some fresh drop links and a promise to drive it more this summer ! I thought my moroso baffled sump had sprung a tiny leak on one of the weld seams as this was not an uncommon fault on some of the early ones as a small oil mark was present on the under tray when removed . Great news is that the sump is still in perfect condition , but the oil filter housing does have a weep around the raised flange that the oil filter screws into , this sits near the sump and oil was running down the seam onto the tray . Could anyone point me in the direction of a replacement part , either original or upgraded that I sho…

Hi, embarrassingly I’ve just noticed that something appears to be missing between my rear number plate lights on my S2 Elise , there’s just a rectangular hole. Is there meant to be something here or is it an access hole for the no plate lights ? Any help would be appreciated

Hi all After the Ashbourne run out yesterday I have just noticed the nearside mud flap behind the front wheel has gone missing on my Elise S3. Rather embarrassingly I have just looked at some photos from 3 weeks ago and realised it wasn’t there then either 😁. So I’ve no idea when I lost or it , or how! So questions are: , should I try and source another one? ( I would need some of the fittings/screws too as some of those have gone too) I’ve had a look on t’ internet at Elise parts etc but I cannot find anything. Has anyone done the same thing as me and managed to find a replacement?- if so where? Or option 2 , should I just remove the other o…

Having got a bit sick of the bayonet type sidelight bulbs dropping out of their holder and then having to fish them out of the headlight with extra long tweezers, I've swapped them to wedge type bulbs and holders which I found on ebay. Hopefully this works better.
