Hi all,

Does anyone use a crook-lock type of device to help secure their Lotus Emira.  I am concerned that standard devices are likely to be too long/large to fit the small Emira steering wheel.  Does anyone have any experience and/or recommendations for products they use and know work well with the Emira?

Thanks in advance. Geoff.

You could try a padlock and chain,or cycle lock  through the wheel to under the seat, if theres somewhere for it to go through 😎

has your Emira got a Tracker?

Yes it has a tracker, but my understanding is that professional thieves know where the trackers are installed and simply rip the wires out to disable them.

I don't know about the specifics for the Emira.

I have read reviews that state thieves can get through bar type locks within seconds and disk type locks can give you about 5 mins of protection.

My friend uses a small disklok on his Z3.

I did a search and people on the Emiraforum say the disklok won't close on the Emira wheel.

If you are really concerned about theft you might want to consider building in your own hidden immobiliser switch. Or fitting a Denver boot.

Hi Geoff I have been using the Artago under seat steering lock for the past 3 years.  I wanted something that wasn't too cumbersome when not in use. It attaches under the seat by use of clever D shackle. As it's flexible It slips between seat and cill when not in use. I also wanted a lock that wouldn't mark the steering wheel which some others do. I did a bit of research and Artago are a premium lock manufacturer & design and manufacture in Valencia Spain using quality materials. It's not cheap I think about £50 but I think worth it for an extra deterrent when  parked out in the wild.20250127_174613.thumb.jpg.3c0532c17aa68fa6a5f2e857cbdcd87e.jpg20250127_174656.thumb.jpg.f9d95213197279db9381c364e296a4a0.jpg20250127_174732.thumb.jpg.74d72a6e903b6d01b30cc2b04ed904e2.jpg

The baddies just saw through the steering wheel in a few seconds.  Not a good solution.

I take your point Eric you're never going to stop the determined scumbag granted.  More just an extra line of defense for me.  Your typical opertunist scumbag doesn't always have a battery angle grinder down the front of there tracky bottoms but hey you never know these days 🤣

Theft of cars such as Emiras is very rare. High value cars aren't stolen by opportunists and when they are stolen it's almost always in planned car key burglaries of cars kept on the street or a drive.

I know this as I work in the criminal justice system.

I would say don't worry about it and enjoy your car.

I would also say I wouldn't want a heavy lock lying about in the car in case I crashed and it hit me on the head!

Exactly my thoughts Dean.  The lock I have is suppose more cosmetic really but is an extra line of defense all the same. Plus as it's secured to the seat frame shouldn't do me any real damage if I run out of talent🤣

I have cctv and little signs indicate a track fitted , you can maybe look at ghost alarm my son had one fitted on his fiesta ST

I asked the guy fitting it about my Evora and he remarked a rare car would be so easily spotted on road and if stolen to order would be in a container on the way to port.
like previous replies enjoy the car remember down in posh parts of London million pound cars are parked on street
