How do people who park their S1's outside get on with the rain / damp? Ours is usually garaged but when it's left out in the rain it misfires and runs like a bag of s**t for about 5 mins till it warms up and dries out. Is this a T.A.D.T.S. and you have to just put up with it or is their a solution? Unsurprisingly this caught me out at the weekend with all the rain. Made the mistake of parking up after a short trip during which it was misfiring. When I went to restart it at midnight after more rain it didn't want to play - had the AA half way out but their estimated arrival of 2hrs got me fiddling with it a bit harder and got it to go in the end. At 1am in …

Hi folks, The temp guage on my S1 started flicking between 48 and 58 degress last week, with no changes as the engine warmed up. Today, the display is for the most park empty with the occaisional flash. Could this be the guage itself is broken or a connection is faulty? The rest of the dash is fine. cheers, Rich

Hello folks Require some information about my zorst. When i purchased my car it was fitted with a Janspeed supersport zorst, which i have noticed in the last week seems to be expelling more emissions from the left hand tail pipe than the right.I have the invoice from PTP engineering for supply the zorst and have been on their web site to price up a replacement unit.My question is what is the crack with the lifetime guarantee they say the unit has on these zorsts, would you expect them to replace mine if i present them with my faulty unit and reciept as i suspect the baffels in the zorst are faulty in some way

Came to use the heater the other day when it was a little cool and the temperature knob thing will only move a quarter turn. It feels though something is jamming the flap inside the heater matrix. Is it easy to get to the matrix without taking the clam off as I am wondering what I have hoovered up and need the access to the matrix to have a look.

I bought my liz about 1 week ago. Whilst swapping my K&N, I had a good look at the head, ----- It looks BRAND NEW compared to the rest of the engine, really clean, and very silver looking. It has full lsh, and loads of reciepts. [no receipts for a new rebuilt/head] Do you think that the guy before me had a new head installed? I would expect the bottom half of the engine to look the same colour/condition as the head! Ill try and get some pics

Squeek when started engine. Yesterday it was absolutely hammering down........ I decided to go out, so got in turned the engine over and when it started i heard a quick squeek as if some sort of belt slipped etc........ It didnt happen the rest of the day, [started engine a couple of times after stopping off at a few places] It hadnt done this before but ive never really taken it out in the rain. Could this just be because the engine was soaking, so blet slipped a bit initially, but once engine warmed up and dried water everything was ok??? OR..... have i got a problem on my hands?

Guys! Right as everyone can guess my liz S1 leaks a bit [hence the elemental] BUT it doesnt leak on the drivers side. When i bought it i looked in the boot and found a rubber attatchement for the side bar for the drivers side. The rubber attachment fits on the end of it, and connects to the top of the windscreen [where the foam bit usually is] It makes the fit much tighter than the other side - therefore sealing it from the weather. I havent got one for the passengers side, just the usual foam bit stuck on the end of the side bar. My question is - where can you buy these rubber moulds from??? the guy who had it before me must have bought it from s…

Right. I've got an Eliseparts exhaust manifold gasket as I need to replace the old one. Has anyone replaced this before ? How involved is it ? I've searched SELOC and all they say is "it's an easy" and "the gasket was too thin and I needed to fit washers" but nothing on the technicalities of swapping it. (And there's nothing in the service manual) Any advice you may have would be much appreciated. Cheers. Steve. (Edited for cak spelling)

Hi, I am new the forum and I am keeping my fingers crossed that somebody can help me out. My dad and I are in the process of restoring a 1979 Lotus Eclat S1. Living up to the Lots Of Trouble Usally Serious tag bits are going wrong. Currently we are after an Exhaust manifold and a drivers side electric wing mirror. If anybody has these in good condition for sale please let me know. Also if anybody has had experience of balancing the twin 45 Dellortos please get in touch. One day we might get her running right and then I will look like this . Thanks James

Hi there, I have an Elise S1 and the screen wash / wiper function has packed in. I have had a look at a document I have downloaded off the net and it appears to point to the replacment of a relay. I approached my local garage for advice and they just said they don't sell any parts for the Lotus and I would have to go elsewhere (very helpfull). Can anybody advise me on what I need to change to get it working, and where I can get the part from. PS. The wipers do work on there own, but not the screen wash function. Hope this make sense!!!

Lots of the driving I do is motorway miles, I tend to travel at over 4000rpm for about an hour then come to an abrupt halt for 20 mins, this happens twice on each leg to work and then back with the route I travel. As a result the car stays at a steady 87c, then shoots upwards at each halt. I've not had anything too scary happen yet, but have got to 'flashing temp guage' stage on more than one occasion. This thermal shock needs to be reduced for fear of a terminal event! I'm fitting a remote 82 degree stat but was wondering what other options I have for reducing the sharp climbs in temperature; 1 Radiator relief (or other water wetter). Chuck it in with every coo…

Hi all. Just wondered what you folks with leather interiors use to clean the seats and sill covers with (if at all). My car has cream leather and it has a number of marks on it which I'd like to try and remove if possible. Is there anything that brings leather up particularly well? Also, there's black tape on the cloth parts of the seats and sills which was obviously put there to protect the material itself from wear. This tape has worn through now though and needs replacing. I'm thinking about buying some black self-adhesive vinyl and cutting it neatly to shape with with the sills and seat trim so that it doesn't look too heath robinson. Has anybody else tri…
