Ive had the car a couple of days. The atmosphere has not been really dry, hence no squeeknig. But today i just took her for a blat after work, and it squeeks over rough ground - accelerating, or braking hard. Sounds like suspension. Where exactly would it be squeeking, and should i attack the whole suspension with some WD40??? Could be the springs, links??? PS. it had all shock changed in last service. Oh and when i was under there painting my calipers, the susp looked like it needed a good brushing, and lubing. Is WD40 the best thing to use, if not what is? Where exactly should i be directing the lubing??? Thanks

Hi, I've ordered new smoked front indicator lenses from Eliseparts, so need to remove each front wheel and arch liner to swap em over (correct me if I'm wrong). Anyway, I'm doing this at weekend and need to get hold of replacement rawl nuts (again, I think) - as I can guarantee they will be rusted on - everything else seems to be !!! Where can I get the ones I need, and what sizes ? Preferably somewhere I can just go and pick them up - don't think I'll have time for the internet to magic some through my front door.. i.e. B and Q ? etc ? Thanks in advance. P.S. Got to log off now till the morning, pls don't think I am being rude by asking a qu…

Hi Everyone! I have a 52 plate 111S Elise. I have noticed that if it rains heavily the soft top leaks at the front top corners of the side windows and when the roof is totally saturated the roof leaks at the rear on the passenger side. With regards to the passenger side leak, the waters seems to enter the car from the corner of the inner plastic cover on the side rail of the roof. Am I being a little unrealistic to assume a Lotus soft top should be totally water tight?? Cheers Jim

I know this is a bit of a dumb one but I am about to change the pads all round and am not sure about the discs, not having the car from new its hard to tell how worn they are. Apart from the minute wear (<1mm at a guess) at the extremes of the discs they look pretty good, no visible scoring. The car has just passed 19500 and I assume they are the originals still on there. Cheers in advance. I'll be at Ashbey Folville tonight if anyone is going who might be able to give me a clue!!

Hi there. Had my car now for approx 3 months and i only noticed the other day that the water level was below the Min level. I topped it up a few days ago and after a 200mile run it was showing again to be below the Min level. Yet again I topped it up and the level dropped after another relativly short run. Does anybody else have this problem and should I be worried, or is it due to the fact the water bottle may not be at the correct hight?? Appeciate in advance for any feedback. Andy

Ride Height

How do I lower the ride hight ? I have a 97 S1, and all I know about suspension is that my car had "New" rear shocks about 10k miles ago. They were replaced with the same red Koni's. I presume the fronts are 48k miles old. . . . Holiday is coming up, so cost is an issue - Nitrons are out of the question. Are Koni's adjustable? P.S. This is mainly for aesthitic reasons. This is my first Lotus, and I have no need(yet) to make it faster or the handling even better (It is perfect as is). Thanks as usual.

Hi folks, I've just joined your esteemed ranks as a proud and broadly grinning Elise owner. I bought a 1999 111S and I'm chuffed to bits with it. It sounds great, looks great, is brilliant fun to drive, and me lady friend loves it It's not perfect of course and has its share of minor niggles, but I'd like to ask some specific advice about a couple of things. It's got the full Lotus service history, but as it's only done 36000 miles it's still on its first cam belt. It's also the original head gasket. Would it be prudent to take it to, say, Horizon and get these two changed as soon as I can? Do I need to specify an uprated head gasket? And "long bolts" a…

I was returning home after a long long night (something like from 9 am to 5 pm) so i used the car qiute a bit (not continuously, since i stayed in a place for many hourse, still i made many kms went in the highway and stuff).. I was going to make some fuel since i hate tthat "refill" stuff... than.. while i was driving really easy-... i start hearing like "potatoes from the exhaust" and the engine loosing power (seeing the rpm tick a bit) like if the motor was coughing.. i stopped.. turned off the car.. and.. i wasn t able to turn it on anymore! so i was forced to "push it" in a safe place (i am glad my car doesn t weight 2 tons ).. the "coughing motor eff…

Hi My S1 has an un-sprung gear stick (i.e. there's no spring to centre it). Is this normal, or has it vacated? Cheers
