Hi How much does the under tray actually do? I understand the principle of it, surely it only has an effect at high speeds? Cheers

Fitted the new manifold at the weekend. I decided after much research to go for the large bore stepped one that EBD sell. It's not got a flexi section so has longer primaries and secondaries which results in more torque/power (so they say) I also had to fit the adjustable engine steady bar this is to compensate for the flexi section, but also helps put the power down onto the road as power can be lost with the engine moving when accelerating. The car now feels a lot more free revving and I can feel this just from pulling off. There is also more torque and more noise which is more noticable after 3000rpm. It now sounds like a sportscar should! I'm really pleased …

Can anyone give me advice? When accelerating I quite often get a small amount of detonation/pinking, I've checked the pipe to the MAP sensor and it's clear. It's more noticeable when the weather is hot - could I have a problem with the AIT sensor? Oh yeah nearly forgot, it's an S1 2000MY......

Hello again, Back from travelling the world for 6 months, with an empty wallet, nowhere to live and no posessions other than my Elise. Could be worse I suppose... But I have siezed brake calipers... It's been stood outdoors since xmas, being taken for a spin round the block every 2 weeks or so by my brother. Now I find the brakes are terrible, they grind, judder and generally dont work. I assumed they'd soon return to normal after some use, but after at least 100 brakings they haven't improved. The braking faces of the discs show massively variable shiny-ness. See pics. Only the outer face of the front right is normal. The other 7 braking faces look untouched …

i know i,ve mentioned this b4, but who does the conversions?? i,ve found a few Vtec lumps now with gearbox, ecu, harness etc etc for like £800 with only 20.000 miles on them, so was wondering if anyone actually knew the cost to install one in s1 liz?? i don,t fancy paying near on 10k for them so supply and fit, to me that seams like near on 9k profit for them to fit this into a car.

Toying with the idea of a front clam repray after an unfortunate incident with a paint flake coming away mysteriously. Bit of a contentious issue with Storm (who I bought it from) or whatever they are called now as I think its a prior repair gone wrong. Peter from Chipsaway did a stellar job but its still not right. Anyway I'm in Leicester and know of a few places but wondered if anyone has had a repsray and more importantly how much it set them back (I know I'm going to have to start saving). Cheers

As in the thread title. Since fitting a new rear silencer my car now has a bit of a tizz. It had it a little bit before when the engine was coming down the revs back to idle, but its there when accelerating now at 2500 rpm. Read that some people have put jubilee clips around the flexi section in the downpipe before and this stopped it. Since i've disturbed the flexi is this likely to be whats causing the tizz? Rus

only replaced it last year, been overheating for while now and couldn,t work it out was no emsulification in oil before now there is so guessing the overheating is down to that and finally gone again. Would if be easier to replace engine or the gasket again . Can any one tell me the major differances then regards VVC lump and normal 118bhp K series, wat would need changing?

After crawling across the seat to replace my Tax Disc I caught the seat belt holder with my foot which caused it to shudder – thought nothing of it until next driving the car. Now the seat belt warning light comes on intermittently – more on than off – I have tried wiggling the holder with the seat belt clip in it and this does cause the light to go out – I’m sure it’s the internal switch and not the wiring. My question is – how do I gain access to the switch inside the holder – and is it possible to replace without the seat coming out?

OK, I've just bought a new 111S. It's a bit quiet, and I'm thinking about sports exhausts and induction kits. I'm still running it in, and obviously not using many revs yet. I believe the 111S has one of those silly exhaust systems with a valve that closes to keep the noise down for noise regs. Is it a good idea to remove/disable this? Also, I read somewhere that they have an induction resonator valve also to reduce noise. Is that right? Should I look into disabling/removing that as well? Is this gonna make it sound sweet - if not, what should I do, when, and how do I avoid sounding like a broken Spitfire ?
