since yesterday in Brescia it started to rain REAALLLLLLY bad.. i ve just bought yesterday a cover for the rain but hadn t got the time to put it on and i ve read on the instruction of the cover that it s not a good idea to put it on a wet car (bad idea for the paint). i am a bit preoccupied tough since two days ago, when it rained that bad i decided to put my car into a closed garage (now it s in a private one bt sadly it s not closed), i noticed that the car had difficulties to go! the exaust like did bom-bom ptock bomm and the car seemed like it was going to turn off anytime.. my brother said that it should be the water that entered in the airbox because when…

I've noticed within the past month that the bonnet of my S1 seems to have a significant amount of what appear to be hairline cracks in the paint. They are on the same level as the Lotus badge and extend in near horizontal sweeps across the bonnet and also around the indicator lenses. They look almost like huge stress fractures, odd that I didn't notice them until recently (more obvious in a certain light), but they must have been there ever since I got the car as I haven't hit anything or scratched the car myself (and it's never been left anywhere that this could have happened.) Someone told me it looks like the result of a poor respray, but I wouldn't personally ha…

Having visited my local garage to have my brakes tested I drove out of the garage only to smash the lower front splitter on the exit driveway. Stupid I know, but I put my faith in the garage owner who watched me out having told me it would be fine, furthermore told me there was no damage! Having got home and examined the car myself I now see its not exactly nothing. Assuming the garage have no liability (I was driving the car and I did not pay for the service) I am looking to have it repaired. Can anyone recommend a ChipsAway type place to have glass fibre repairs done in the Midlands area? Any recommendations?

Soft brake pedal on Cooper S ... Changed the pads on a neighbours Cooper S yesterday for Greenstuffs (the inner OS Pad had no friction material on at all ). Now, I have not touched anything save for the calipers and pushing them back in with a G-Clamp. Brake fluid, as per usual, leaked from expansion cap. All seals were fine, and no leaking from the calipers themselves. When I drove it last week the pedal felt very spongy. Apparently it had always been like that, but I would not have been happy with it. Test drove it last night after the pad change and it again felt very spongy. A high speed stop (80-ish to 0) resulted in the car braking, but pedal was…

Going to be doing some track days this year so I need a Helmet. Mark A has recommended that it should conform to BS Type A or Type A/FR. I'd like an openfaced one for better visibility (unless they are not recommended). Any recommendations for types and where to get them from. I do want to try it on first so must be a physical shop. Anything else needed? (I already have a box from my martial arts ) Cheers

Hi I have to fix the wheel cylinders of my Ecalt as they are leaking. After removing the shoes I can see removing the cylinder would be difficult. I already have purchased the shoes and cylinder, so I though just remove the components from the new cylinder and put them on the old!! Then I will have to bleed the rear brakes abd that looks tricky as I cannot see the bleeding point with out going right under the car. Any advice. Thanks Mike

Im looking for some information if anyone can help... what size are the throttle bodies for an elise (ie DTH conversion bodies, not the std single one) whats the spacing between centres on an S1 111s elise?... what size injectors are used on the elise (again, s1 111s) any info on intake mounting (ie 2-bolts, what pitch and rough layout) what else is required for a DTH throttle body conversion other than the throttle bodies, intake mods, re-mapable ECU, fuel rail and throttle cable/linkage?.. all will be revealed if I can get it straight in my head! thanks in advance b

Can anyone recommend what to use to re-glue the rubber seal to the foam strip at the side of the window on an s1? Something that is a bit flexible and doesn't dry brittle would probably be best. Any ideas greatly appreciated.
