Door waist seals - any interest?

Recommended Posts

I'm looking in to getting door waist seals made up (S2/S3). These new ones will have stainless steel 'inners' so won't corrode like the standard ones (if you can find them!).

Does anyone have any old seals that we can use for evaluation and chopping apart?

A few mentioned them on this thread and it's also been mention a fair bit lately on Seloc.

I was looking at finding somebody to fabricate some. I'm sure if a fabricator can be found and a bulk order made, it'd be profit for the person willing to take time out to do the leg work, and hopefully a huge saving for those needing some. I certainly need some for mine.

Get a 500-1000 units made and get them priced for £100 a pair and they'd sell like hot cakes.

I'd even consider helping finance a bulk order as I'm pretty confident they'd sell.

Will watch this with interest.

I would be interested in the cost of stainless ones as mine are buldging a bit from corrosion inside.

I assume these are the ones on the top of the doors?

Are the S1 and S2 seals the same?

Different.

Waist seals are the rubber strips that run along the window glass.

Yes. Stupid prices.. Also drivers side on back order now. It's a complete joke and someone astute enough can fill the gap in the market and make some good money/improve the product (stainless steel inner) and still likely save the customers a great deal of money if a large enough order is made. Honestly can see hundreds if not thousands of customers awaiting some at a reasonable rate.

Just FYI it is currently about £240 a pair to purchase some.

Those are for s1s.  I can't find any for s2s on the Elise Shop website.

That's because there aren't any.

Honestly it's a massive hole in the market that's long over due being filled.

One of, if not THE most sought after Elises in the entire range, this is the S3 Supercharged with the proper Toyota 1.8 2ZZ engine, before it was replaced by the 1.6.
Originally metallic grey (see final photo), the car was professionally wrapped, internally as well as externally, by well known vehicle wrapper, Dave Bean, of Bean Vinyled last summer.
The car was serviced 50 miles ago, including new front discs and pads, and new rear pads.
Wheels have been upgraded to the Exige version with almost new Yoko AD07s all round, and the air box has been upgraded to a TRD for extra supercharge whine!
With a full leather interior, electric windows, upgraded Bluetooth head unit (not that you’ll be able to use hands free, but you can listen to music!), both keys, push button start, LED lights front and rear, all paperwork, MOT until December, private plate, only two previous owners, and having covered only 36,500 miles this car as ready as it’ll ever be for summer fun, I just don’t get chance to drive it anymore.
Nothing else in its price bracket turns more heads!
Feel free to message with any questions. Please include your phone number if you’d like me to call you back.

      Hi guys.

Not been on for a while.. good to see many of you this past weekend! As per title, I've had my car dipped matte orange, as well as had a spoiler fittted, canards, carbon fibre spoiler etc.

      I quite like it!

      Hey all,
Newbie here, long time 147 GTA Alfa Owner, through to Audi, Subaru and MX5, now into the Elise S2 111s - really should have got one year's ago, awesome cars!
It's had all the important work done, inc. alu rad, multi-layer HG, ITG intake and Janspeed exhaust.
I use mine daily, commute to work 40 miles each way of A and B roads, Subaru WRX PPP Wagon for Snow and weekends with the dog and family.
I'm thinking Unit 4 seems the best bet for servicing.
Anywhere near Kidderminster for Fibreglass Repairs when I'll need them, everyone does at some point - Option 1 is my current thought.

P.S. MattyB - is that you (ex 147 GTA owner?)

      Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone else could verify/confirm that the brake calipers on the Elise are the same as that on a Laguna? Seems abit odd to me but there is a thread on one of the forums which states this.

Just wondering if this is correct as I am in need of a replacement rear passenger caliper. (Handbrake is sticking) and although I am cleaning it up to loosen I don't think this will be sufficient.

Of course any other ideas would be appreciated. Would like to be able to use the car so any quick fixes which are reliable would be great. (I really don't want to risk anything with the brakes)

      Thanks

      Steve
