Heading back from Ludlow 10pm just missed a fox by about 5ft at 70+ Then overtaking a couple of cars whilst following another the throttle stuck open at about 60% thank god it wasn't 100%. I had to follow the guy in front of me in fourth with the brakes hard on. Once he moved ahead I tried the only easy option and blipped the throttle again fortunately that sorted it. When I got home I found the cause.... the small wiring harness to the bootlid closure sensor had moved away from the boot bulk head and it had caught the end of the throttle cable cam on the side of the throttle body. If you have an S2 it might be worth checking this one.....it could have been a l…

Quite a milestone for Lotus Cars! Just to emphasise the importance of the Elise and associated models for Lotus is the fact that only about 50,000 cars have been produced in the company's entire history! The 20,000th Elise car is a yellow S2 111s and was delivered to Bell & Collville for sale to some lucky punter!

At work we've got a very large car park which has lots of empty spaces. I normally park right at the far end of it so i don't get some idiot opening their door into me and so i can open my doors fully. At the moment one of my collegues thinks he's incredibly funny by parking so close to me that i can't open my door, resulting in me having to clamber in through the passenger door. Needless to say after the tength occasion the joke is wearing particularly thin and i'm getting increasingly pissed off. I want revenge on this git. I've resisted the temptation so far in messing with his car as i know he'll do something back to mine. So i need something a little more …

Thanks to Scott for taking these for me with his camera phone. It's my poor baby that's in for repairs. £50 says it won't start when they put it back together cos the battery will be flat

On Friday jumped into the car driving in Brum, pootling down Broad Street, looked at the speedo and imagine my surprise to be doing 140mph and climbing!!!! Seems to be that my speedo doesnt fall each time I slow and so the speed is cumulative. Everytime I switch the ignition off and on the needle falls about 20 mph until it returns back to zero. Any ideas how to reset or resolve the problem. This morning seems to be ok

What a great day it was today. Been out and about most of the day with one thing or another. Every trip I've made or errand I've run has been in the Liz, most blats taking the "scenic" route and ending up much longer than needs be if you know what I mean. Anyway, although great fun was had, I can now feel the heat radiating from my head as I type! Must remember the sun block next time! Anybody else suffering from "Elise forehead" ? Dunc

ok, these might be a silly questions, Im still concious of the fact I know v.little about Elise's Does anyone know what engine went in the S1 type 49? (I think its a type 49 anyway; red white and gold?) Was it the VVC (as in 111s) or the standard engine? Also, any ideas what was different between the 49 and the std/111s models?... Another thing; I always thought the 49 was red/white/gold, but I have seen one for sale that is blue (azure?.. about that hue anyway) white and gold... is that normal or has it been re-sprayed at some point?... thanks in advance peeps b

I eventually got behind the wheel again on Saturday and went for a route finding run around south Worcestershire/Hereford area. Found some good roads I had never driven before...very little traffic and few speed limits Was just thinking this is great the liz is great too when I came out of a twisty section onto a long straight probably 1-2miles... so what could I do...plant the right foot of course. At that point I thought maybe I should see who I was leaving in my dust only to find a large ugly black object about twenty feet off my tail. So it was into three figures plus 25 and he was still there...then at something over that he booted it and went by covering me in …
