Exige S1 Restoration (images changed).

Must seem like not a great deal is going on with so little updates but this couldn't be further from the truth. Big news is the bodywork is finished, I have done something a little out of the ordinary and possibly not to everyone's taste. I like it though, it should go well with the gloss black TMR's.

With regards to the engine there has been a change of plans. I've sold the trophy spec VVC back to Marc and have decided after taking advice to rebuild the VHPD. Now there is nothing wrong with my VHPD, it was running beautifully with 52k on the clock but it wouldn't have been right to do all this work and not give it a properly good rebirth. So the engine is also commencing it's rebuild this week and should be ready early to mid October. We haven't finalised the full spec yet but it's nothing out of the ordinary and will run using the OE ECU. I have no interest to increase the power. In the pursuit of long term reliability and high spectrum OCD we'll clean up the block, head, cam cover, a little porting, have the TB's rebuilt, fit Kent pullies, new water pump, new sleeves & pistons, new starter motor, new alternator, new clutch, fly wheel reconditioned with the usual new gaskets, belt etc. I'll post up the full spec and its build journey also later but today it looked like this....

Lots of bead blasting, zinc coating, sanding, anodising and a little bit of powder coating! And a thermal coating here and there for good measure. Starting with aluminium panels for the footwells, radio blank which I'll put the extinguisher control box on and a cover for the sill access behind the front wheels.  Divider, footrest, window winders, extinguisher nozzle brackets, bonnet hinge, shims and new floor panels.

That's a picture sent to me by Badger Anodising in Birmingham.  Top man, he's done quite a bit for me.  The aluminium is generally arriving scratched from my fabricator being cut from off cuts (no qty). Much like the divider due to general wear needs to be sanded so I use a 180/240 followed by a 500/400. He can strip but there's no point unless the prep work is done as the new coating will still highlight all the imperfections. Basically the material needs to be perfect before anodising.  He can however bead blast and polish on site buddy.  He did my uprights earlier in this thread.

Made a start on the headlights. I bought new lenses, springs, clips and nylon wing nuts off EP. Rubbers and seals were fine.

I wouldn't want to ask what this has cost but I'm sure it's worth every penny and more! I wouldn't want to drive it, think I'd put it the living room and polish it daily. Brilliant!

:-) I may have gone a bit OTT. It's not been too bad though getting most stuff done locally. Engine, paint and dampers are where the cost lies.

You can drive it Jody ;-) but I think you'd prefer 20mins in the R300 which you are more than welcome too!

Edit: Lights are fine. Image changed above. Now it looks as Panda cool as Jody's cool.png
