Dr H
is it finished yet? Stalled a bit at the minute. Still waiting for the engine and gearbox. Waiting for custom billet flywheel. Having a set of custom ITB manifolds made. Also waiting for some bits from LB - wheels, brake discs, steering column, driveshafts.
jonnyfox
The exhaust system is now finished. The manifold, flexi and decat have all been ceramic coated. I picked up the exhaust from Lenton Automotive in Halesowen this morning. As heavy as it is, it has been opened, cleaned, packed with Acousta-Fil around a newly fitted perforated pipe, welded shut permanently now and (hi-temp) painted. There really wasn't enough room to make it repackable but it should last a little longer and be a little bit quieter. There's always the option of after market at a later date but Gavin's done a great job, very please all round. The Manifold, flexy and decat were threat to thermal coating of there own. New shiny heat shield.
winthattt
I'm pretty sure most of the noise on an S1 is induction noise. I put the largest EP exhaust on my one and it did not make any difference, still 104db static BUT it is never a problem on drive by. Lotus fitted resonators in the induction to get the noise down, which are removed on every S1 I have seen as they sap power. Still, looks great. My Janspeed rusted through so had to go. jonnyfox
I am getting there I promise :-) I had the windscreen removed yesterday. The dash paint job is running at 90%, it needs to be a cool 100% so it makes life easier removing that. There were quite a few nicks and scratches on it so I'm having a brand new windscreen fitted in a few weeks. I'm just waiting to get the engine on the dyno to run that in. I'm a bit lazy like that but it's still using the OE ECU, I'm not chasing power obviously. Not long once the engine is fitted although I'm having work done at home so that may delay matters a little. That said I have the engine specs albeit a few things missing (pipework etc) which I'll update later with a job lot of images. So here we are....
