jonnyfox
Lol rather not One thing I'm really looking forward to is putting the newly trimmed interior back into the car. The doors look BRAND new freshly painted with the doors cards and door pull inserts trimmed back in. Top work by Allon White's. Just the window winder and window seal the then job done. And I haven't forgotten the hinge caps, they're on. Ignore the green tape and foam, just protecting the door against the wall. Oh and messed up the Exige decals, what is it they say about the easiest jobs...
jonnyfox
Winders are on, they look spangly and so too are both waist seals. The Eliseshop outer seals are excellent. I devised a tool that made popping the clips back on a sninch. The inners however looked past there best initially but after a fastidious straighten and clean with some POR degreaser came up peachy and look as new as the outers. So doors done, they really do look bloody incredible. The engine mount came back from shot blasting. Now the original that came off the car was rusted so bad I had both parts powder coated rather than just the top. I know the bottom should be zinc coated but it just doesn't make sense to do that again. New hydro mount. Bolts (and some other stuff) going for zinc coating tomorrow. AlanS1
Looking great as always Jonny. Info on this tool for fitting the clips please?
jonnyfox
PM address buddy, it's yours. Mild steel, 300mm long and about 25mm wide. Hooked at the one end but slightly oversized then the clip. Cover in duck tape so you don't scratch the glass. Slide across and into place, push down on the seal and tug the tool & clip up. Job done
jonnyfox
As much as it pains some people.... I just like the fact they are no longer as rusty as.... .... the engine mount
jonnyfox
It's only a little thing but even something as mundane as refitting the sill extensions is mega satisfying.... But lots going on behind the scenes
lummo
Wow, just wow! Looking forward to seeing it back on the road John.
jonnyfox
Got these back. Sad day maybe as it could be the last time I visit JW Rudge to have anything else Zinc coated. I'm waiting on a few things all pretty much booked in so in the meantime I thought I'd make use of idiol hands. Headlight lenses were kicking around looking rather sorry for themselves so.... 500 grit I love my vice. 800, 1500 followed by 2000 & 3000. All in the box of course. Lastly the polish. Just the vinyl to colour match and pop on.
lummo
I did something similar with the screen on my bike. It's a bit scary the first time you use the 500 grit on the plastic, isn't it. My initial reaction as 'oh my God, what have I done!'
jonnyfox
I know. Almost took it down with a 320 but glad I changed my mind.
jonnyfox
Engine mount fitted. The first new hydro-mount I had to swap out as it seeped when I lowered the engine. No further problems now though, job done. Lol twice New one in Next the heat shield. I used Nimbus Lite as the manifold is ceramic coated. Template in cardboard, fixed at three points. Solid. jonnyfox
Trying to do a job a night, doesn't always work but heater is back in and the latch back on. So a reminder of the bits I had fabricated to get air into the heater.... Battery soon....
jonnyfox
A few more little jobs done. Rear window and bulkhead finisher panel cleaned, polished and refitted. Charcoal canister back on and lastly tonight the airbox. I received a couple of foam seals from Lotus, both of which were perished so I used a draft excluder I use at work, it's good stuff.
