Greg.g Posted February 26, 2012 Author Posted February 26, 2012 Hi Ali Here I've been to see Greg this afternoon with Russell & Elaine !!! There's been a lot of progress today, with the help of Russell he actually sat down on the edge of the bed, he's actually been in bed for 3 week's since the operation. Myself, Elaine & Russell saw him stand up, with help from Russell, to steady him. We went to get him a drink from downstair's and when we went back he had actually walked unaided to the toilet which is just a little walk for use, but a big moment for Greg , with a little help from a nurse !!! I did help him back from the toilet , with the aid of the disabled chair from the toilet, this did completely ware him out, after that he went straight to sleep. It's been a very big day for myself and Greg, hopefully he will get stronger from know on. He hasn't lost his sense of humour, as Russell & Elaine will verify, he's got in for me !!! That's a sign he's getting better. Can i say a big thank-you to Russell & Elaine for coming to visit him this afternoon. i will keep everyone updated on his progress. Take Care Alixx
mambosasa Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 He will be back polishing the red machine soon. This is a really big step forward. Good news indeed.
R.I.B. Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 fantastic! sounds like he's making really good progress ali say hello from me and chez!
russelld Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 It was great to see Greg & Ali yesterday. This was the first time we have seen Greg since he was taken ill and we were a little apprehensive as to how he would be. Well he cerainly hasn't lost his any of his marbles and his wit is as sharp as ever. Ali is now getting very exited and waiting for his return home as Greg was offering to give her an inch! or was it 6 Ali ? As Ali has said Greg did manage a short walk yesterday wich is a milestone in his recovery. I'm sure with a little more time he will soon be getting about by himself and making life for the nurses and Ali a lot more difficult. One of the nurses told Ali they may move him to Sutton hospital quite soon. This will be good for Ali as she will only need to catch one bus instead of three when she goes to visit. Russ & Elaine.
Laura Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Fantastic news, thanks for the updates Ali & Russ. Sounds like he is getting stronger everyday and will be back out with that roof off before we know it. P.s. tell him Shaun the Sheep is my favourite too
paulb Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 What a shocker, dont get on here much these days, so only just found this thread. Hope Greg is well on the mend now, and you are coping Ali. Please give him our best wishes, and will look forward to seeing you both out about in the Elise soon. Paul and Karen.
JonS Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Great to hear the updates Ali, lots of positives to take from his day to day achievements! Love to you both.
Greg.g Posted March 3, 2012 Author Posted March 3, 2012 Hi Ali here Sorry i haven't been here for a while !!! With regard to Greg's progress, he's improving all the time. He's doing a bit more walking, but it's very tiring for him, he's a bit shaky and goes light headed, i can understand that , it's a month tonight since he was taken ill and a month tomorrow since the op. Like Russell & Elaine said he hasn't lost his sense of humour !!! I went to see on Wednesday night and they were doing a lumber puncture, all i can say he said that's the most painful thing i have ever had. I have spoken to my sister, she said they can take a lot if information on how the brain is working and how his body is recovering. I didn't go Friday night, it was my night off, i also need my rest, especially as i'm back at work , i'm got getting home until after 9.00pm. I spoken to hospital last night and they said he was having more physio and sitting in the chair and doing a bit of walking to the toilet. Hopefully, they will transfer him to another hospital , either Good Hope or City Hospital [Dudley Rd] , it depend's on the bed situation, which hospital i don't mind as long it's not as far as the QE from our house. I will keep everyone updated on his progress, can say also a big thank-you for the get well message's and card's Take Care Alixxx
Daniel Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Thanks for the update Ali, hope to see you two soon.
russelld Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Good to hear of Greg's progress Ali. It sounds like he is getting stronger day by day. You take care as well and remember to make some time for your self.
Martin R Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 We have been to see Greg and kidnapped Ali again. We did not stop long as he was tired. He has been transfered to Dudley Road hospital. Im sure Ali will update later in the week.
Martin R Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 We went to see Greg again today. Im very pleased to say he was vastly improved. A lot more like his old self. There is even talk of him being released from hospital in the not to distant future. It made my weekend really.
Steve J Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Excellent news Martin. A long road to recovery but he's used to those and always seems to make it to the destination anyway. Sorry we can't visit atm but pass on our best wishes.
Martin R Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 We went to see Greg again last night. He had been walking up and down the ward and was knackered. He improves every time we go Ali has got a meeting with the consultant this evening. Hopefully it will be good news. She has not posted as she goes to work and then straight to the hospital. Its late when she gets home. I have put his car on charge as well. I may have to give it a " gentle " exercise soon. If we hear any more i will give an update.
