Thought I would share this :- We just got back from a road trip to Spain. We used Britteny Ferries Car & motor cycle tours in Spain, Galicia and the Pilgrims way tour. This is an excellent tour using 4 and 5 star hotels, the route on the web site says 653 miles but this goes not include the distance to the first hotel and from the last hotel back to Bilbao, we did nearly twice that distance. Leave plenty of time to get back to the port on the last day and go over the mountains a 3 hour run. There are some very good roads if you don’t use the motorways all the time. The last hotel advertises a scenic drive, this is a road made for Lotus well the first…

I'm looking for breakdown cover for a European road trip later this year (France & Spain) but online comparison sites seem to balk at the age of my Elise. It's been one of the most reliable cars I've ever owned, but still......I'd like cover just in case! Any recommendations, or experience of same? TIA Adam

Happy New Year all, and apologies for depressing title but..... I am planning a Euro trip in my S1 Elise in May, it needs a 'Crit air' for France (looks like the S1 is a Grey/Cat5) and Spain looks to have implemented something similar (DTG). Can anyone here share their experiences? How do you navigate/avoid zones (does Google maps support this ,etc). My route is likely to be Calais, through France over Pyrenees, to an area just west of Barcelona returning up the west side of France. It would be too easy to say F I and just take the normal car, but I have a feeling that we should be taking these older cars on trips before they are effectively banned ent…

Morning Chaps! I've got about 5 hours free tomorrow and the wife would like to go somewhere, I just can't think of somewhere nice to head to! - We're based in Stratford and have done Broadway, Bourton, Stow, Moreton to death! Ideally an hour from Stratford so we can have three hours there and then come back within the five hour window. any suggestions?

Following the perhaps over-successful marketing of the NorthCoast500, various other areas of the country are popping up with their own versions of long distance touring drives. Spotted this new one on a recent visit to Wales (sadly not in Elise!). Great roads, coastal and mountain views, towns, watering holes etc and it’s supported by Lotus as Official Drive Partner!! www.snowdonia360.com

As my holiday is of course cancelled I'm hoping to have a couple of days out in the Lotus - I'd like to see the sea! Anyone done the A52 route to Skegness in a Lotus? I've not been that way much for a long time and dont whether its a good route. Normally I'd head off to Wales but it appears thats still a no go area.....

It’s a long time since I’ve posted in this section, but here goes. As my Lotus is under repair at the moment we had no choice but to use my Father In Laws Jaguar F Type Coupe to get to Francorchamps. It’s an utterly effortless cruising machine, as sadly we were just intent on getting here as quickly as possible, so just did motorways. Walking around on the Friday (arrivals and early practise day), I saw lots of interesting cars in the paddock and please forgive me for focusing on our marque. Here you go... A very used Lotus XI... I like the patina! Lotus 26R An Elite So pretty and beauti…

So for 3 years the son and heir has been badgering me to do a euro trip to include reims, milieu bridge, stelvio or similar and some big tunnels. Want to do it a little "wild" with a tent in the boot for impromptu camping but also think a comfy bed might appeal after 2/3 days hard driving. does anyone have a route or any experiences to share on trips they have done. is it feasible to do all this in 4 days on foreign soil ? Cheers Richbk

Well yes, finally - after having the Elise for nearly twenty years it's time for the 'pilgrimage' ! Early September because the schools will be back. I'm taking my S1 to Stelvio, but also interesting in other driving roads / passes in the area. There are many online recommendations but I'm always more interested in personal anecdotes. Online guides list so many "must drives" I'd be there until the snows came in Quite like the idea of continuing on to Slovenia and checking out the Mangart Saddle - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mangart_Saddle Someone mentioned Mondsee area of Austria on another thread, quite like that because I worked in southern Germany many y…
