I spent saturday jumping on the car and dousing every visable joint with lube and I finally stopped the blasted squeak that has been driving me nuts for ages. Turns out it was the front springs rubbing on the shocks. So i greased them up and sorted it. But now i have 2 questions, Is it ok for me to just leave the springs as they are(lubed up), or should i do something about it to stop them rubbing? And i seem to have a knock coming from the NSR, only for the first few mins of driving(probably until things warm and expand), and it is most active on rough surfaces, i.e when the surface dressing on a road has started to come off in small patches. Any ideas …

Afternoon Folks, This is what I call "Elise weather", even up here in Scotland. Beautiful. Had a new track rod ball joint fitted to the drivers rear wheel a few weeks ago and since then, when you look at the car from the back, it looks as if the passengers side rear wheen is sitting at more of an angle than the drivers one. Make sense? Spoke to a mate and he said two things. Firstly, with having a fibreglass body the body work tends to "move" in different weather. Secondly, he thinks I'm seeing something which isn't there. It runs straight, I've had it laser alinged and everything is in line, the steering wheel is central but I still reckon there is more camb…

I am sure this is a repeat on MLOC as it has been posted many times on BBS. What S2 exhaust systems are there on the market and what do you think of them? Score them on - quality 1-10 (poor-good), tone 1-10 (hair-drier-F111), volume (sparrow-F111), cost £?

Sadly i don t have yet a private garage for my mk1... even if i am looking for 1... yet i have a private parking spot into a private "open" parking (closed and all.. only 6-7 cars inside, but sadly i am the only one that always parks in the same place... since i own that one in particular... or i would know who is guilty) i have got the car from less than a month and i have already got 2 notches into the left door (i am lucky that no one can park right from me)... my brother says that even when i ll have my own garage, when i use it a saturday night and park it somewhere there could always be the moron that opens the door into your car.. that s true.. …

Have got a walshy day next week - my NS rear is on the indicator to rather, erm, bald. Car has SO2's on them, but have not got it with me today so don't know the sizes etc ... It has been suggested that I should get some new rears before the walshy day. I am based in Derby/Burton on Trent. Any ideas for (1) best palce to get them from around here and (2) the size/model type. Cheers Muchly Simon

had a problem a while back with the fuel pump not priming up properly and causing the car not to start, went into garage he played about and its been ok since, but last night the same happened, i played witha few wires and managed to get it to start, i think one of the conections must be dodgy so could do with a decent auto electrician that might know about working on elises that could do a permanent fix on the car,

This may be a dumb question but is it ok to get your alloys powder coated?? I only ask cos I know the process involves heat treating the alloys (or so I'm told) and I thought it might weaken the wheel or sumthing like that. Another thing that made me ask is that I had a mate who had black wheels (not on an Elise) and he had 2 that cracked near one of the spokes & I wasnt sure if it would be the blackening process that would do that. Apologies in advance if I'm talking tripe but I dont want to bugger my wheels............ If it is ok to do does anyone know of a good place to get them done (or another alternative way of getting a good quality black finish)…

Went out last night on my first track event at Donnington - fantastic! Had a severe problem changing gear after a couple of laps when the engine heated up & had to rev the nuts off the engine to be able to change (Elise S1). The clutch is brand new (about 500 miles ago) and was all fitted perfectly. I've still got the old red clutch hose in place - is this likely to be the cause of the problems? I'm thinking of upgrading to the braided Eliseparts hose - anyone fitted one & how are they? Looking out for my next few track days already.......... Cheers Mark

Hi - sorry for yet another question about coolant temperature, but I'm confused with the archives - and what could be wrong. . My "normal" running temp is 89-90 ish - never seems to get above this really, and is consistent (which i think is the main thing ?) If I turn my heater or lights on, it goes nuts - jumps all over the place - This is the earth grounding I believe, on my list of things to do . . Yesterday however, I was stuck in traffic for ever, and it was about 28 degrees outside. The temp went up to 107-124 . ( i didn't have the cooler fans on ). . The fan cut in, but didn't bring the temp down.. It simply wouldn't drop . . I stopped the e…
