M@r]{ Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Ok, fair play to doing all that yourself, I certainly couldn't do it. But bloody hell that looks ridiculous and I'm sure if you put it in a wind tunnel you'd be doing a lot more harm than good - poor Elise Reminds me of that advert years ago with all the boyracer cars with tears coming out of their eyes. John FISH Curtis Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 The owner is on SELOC, I'm sure its going to be a speed attack car thingy and is work in progress. I contacted the owner to buy his original rear spoiler but its not for sale yet.
the DustRoom Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 It seems the chap bought a book on aerodynamics and then has some rather interesting theories on downfarce. That and the belief that the K-Series could possibly produce enough power to make even 10% of his ideas a possibility. There's also information to suggest he started an RX-7 project after stacking it on a roundabout and abandoned it and the car after not paying a large bill - then started another project on an M5. The guy seems like a mentalist IMHO and this "project" is a laughable abomination.
Steve J Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Don't forget the golden rule of Elise rear wing downforce. Amount of downforce produced in kg = weight of wing in kg
John FISH Curtis Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 I suspect the front and rear aero spoilers will break and fall off just before the engine blows up during its first outing.
TimSportsTourer Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 I leafed through this. I'm frankly amazed. He does show significant skill and significant determination. He has done some quite tricky things. So how do you get that good, and still manage to design a wing like that and expect it to work? Perhaps I'll have to eat my words when we see the finished article, but I somehow doubt it. Time, as always, will tell.
Martin R Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 I admire his application and persistence. However its got all the makings of ending in tears. I doubt he will get a lot of sympathy off SELOC. I hope he is thick skinned.

I doubt he will get a lot of sympathy off SELOC. I hope he is thick skinned. Iv'e followed his build on and off on Seloc and have to say he's had more than his fair share of criticism, but he still seems determind to go on his own path despite tons of advice from some rarther clever and experienced chaps. He's going to need to get over 400bhp out of his engine to even pull that aero! As said time will tell
lummo Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 To be fair to him, he does say that he has deliberately made things 'over-sized' so that he can cut them back as necessary to get the balance right. Having said that, he does seemed to have ruined what looked like a rather nice 111S.
