Martin R Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 Are you sure manning offer a unlimited trackday cover? I recall something on seloc saying unlimited providing it is organized by a member of the trackday organiser association which LOT is not member of. Bill, sorry just spotted this. I mentioned LOT to Manning when taking out the policy. They said LOT are fine as TDO's.
Chris_edeson Posted May 14, 2013 Author Posted May 14, 2013 What about track day coverage Chris? I hardly do any so i will take it standalone in an ad hoc basis when i do. Adrian flux offer that as i had that convo on the phone
KurtB Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 Martin, Do you have contact details for Manning? I only ever achieve around 3K a year in the Exige and since it tends to break at track days and allied to the fact I've had it mapped for road driving (no lairy power delivery, lumpy idle or peaky power), I'm happy to stay away from tracks this year. I hit 40 in July but as some have said the insurance companies have us by the nads. I just don't get how I can be a safe driver with 15 years NCD (across 3 vehicles 10 years Exige, 4 years Panda, 1 year Bike,) but I have to have seperate NCD for each vehicle. How does THAT work??? But if I have a bump (say in the Panda) then I have to declare that when I come to renew the Exige? It makes no sense and it pisses me right off. I think I ought to start my own insurance company, covering 3rd party only, and liquidate it if I need to claim. That way we're all legal and I'll charge a nominal £10 on each vehicle. Sorted...
Martin R Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 Manning http://www.manninguk.com/ 01491 577 123 Kurt, as i say you get unlimited trackday cover on the classic policy. The max mileage is 5K per year though.
KurtB Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 Spot on Martin, thank you. 5K is all I get covered for now, so I'll be fine. Cheers matey.
scatty Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 Such boyish good lucks hiding the old fecker that lies within.... Or something like that kurt.... I look forward to welcoming you to the 40 club....:-)
chrislane Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 Manning was the first call i made today. £355 on the classic policy with unlimited trackdays (as martin says above i was also explicitly told that LOT were covered). They mirrored my NCD on my other car. To be honest i probably wont bother with too many others as i doubt anyone will come close to that - the only other one i have spoken to today is REIS which came back with £890!!!!!!!!!! I was worried that i wasn't going to get anything close to what cci have quoted previously but manning have really come up trumps for me. As martin says, it is limited to 5k miles but i wont do more than that so no problem for me.

olliecast Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Just done mine with adrian flux. 1160 quid woth everything declared. Gulp
Alex B Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 I've got 6months till renewal, I think I should start saving up.
Stik Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Is this just a problem with the Elises then? My Exige is no where near this much to insure with Admiral (although no mods on this, my modded VX220 was about the same when i had it)

My Exige is no where near this much to insure with Admiral (although no mods on this, my modded VX220 was about the same when i had it) Correct. If I had an Exige, I'd be fine. Unfortunately that excuse didnt wash with the wife! Fewer of them means fewer claims being made so there is no need to limit the age of the policy holder as they've done with the Elise.
Steve J Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 Just renewed with CCI. Mine's fairly heavily modified so £340 isn't too bad for 4k miles p.a. It is a bit wierd how Aviva seem to have targeted the Elise as a car they don't want to underwrite at a reasonable price.
