Just changed my front pads to EBC greenstuff, and they are squealing like hell. It's deafening. Is this just the new pads bedding in, or should I have put in some anti squeal shims (or whatever they're called)? When I took the old ones off it looked like there were some on the back, but they were fixed on to or part of the pads, which seems to defeat the point?

Fitted my new headlights tonight - cost about 12 squids and took 10 minutes to fit. Much improved even with my cloudy covers. They cut a line of light similiar to my old S2000 Xenons but not as pronounced. Full feam is bloody excellent - white light that you can see for a good distance. Very happy with them. Do yourself a favour and get these or the Phillips Vision Plus in preperation for these dark nights cos the std's are rubbish. Next Job: S2 Wiper - Simon Pricket, where are you ??

Thought I would inspect my footwells this morning, just in case they had got worse. When I bought the car, it was just cosmetic staining, with perhaps 1 tiny area of corrosion. It definately seemed worse, nothing drastic, but still in need of arresting before it becomes an eyesore.... One would have thought Lotus would have sorted this by now, I realise its a huge expense, but won't all the brand new 111R's be starting to corrode now as well?!?? Surely this won't enamour their public?

Hi Just looked at a s-reg elise , I have looked at a few but have not noticed this noise before. The noise appeared at any speed when you stopped accelerating, my closest description is it sounded like a thrust bearing type of noise but it is not there when the car is still. Is this just the usual sound of the gearbox ? Thanks Andy

Since my front clam is about to get a nice fresh coat of paint i thought it'd be a good idea to protect this one as currently it's stone chipped to hell!!! Anybody know how much the front section is (roughly) and where i can get it from?? (Website isn't much good). Fancy changing the back rear quarter to the black stuff as well!! This is how bad it is. Plus the damage from my recent accident!

First experience this morning using mmc discs in the soaking wet, an interesting experience! At least waterproofing the top last week pretty much stopped all the drips soaking me on the way to work. Took someones' advice on my first upgrade and installed a tea towel - a lotus owner should always know where his towel is. Anyway, back to the point. Have a '98 S1 with the Cobra alarm and microwave sensor, it all arms OK and intrusion & microwave detection works, but only the hazards flash without sounding the horn. Is it possible to disable the horn or is it just buggered? Was going to open up the top of the dash and have a look - allready checked the wiring to the soun…

After much hunting and reading through ads for various Elises, I'm now a bit vague on the whole tyre front. So, a few questions: What are the standard tyres that come with the Elise? How much do they cost to replace? What other ones are available and how much are they? What are the good and bad points about each type? ummm... I think thats it... Rob

Shall soon be taking my S2 Exige on its first trip into europe. Do i need to do something about the lights for driving on the other side of the road ?? I know for lots of lights you put those stickers on to stop blinding the people coming the other way. On my jag theres a little switch that changes the direction they point. Thanks Chris

After a top day at brunty on Sunday (the best track day i've been on) i got home and did a check around the car and inside the engine bay. I noticed that where the diagonal part of the roll over bar mounts to the chassis, just to the right of the engine(when stood behind the car), the bar itself, not the chassis, was rusty as anything i have ever seen. In fact it is so bad i think it will have to have some welding work done and replace part of the bar. I touched it and parts of it crumbled in my fingers. I didn't check the other side as the air box and such was in the way bit i suspect it is a similar situation Has anyone else had this and had it fixed? M…

I noticed a very fine spray of water coming out of the air vent in my bonnet this morning. I've had a look and the one of the ribs in the rad' has a pin prick sized hole. I've spoken to the Nick Whale & Paul Matey and they are both suggesting about £500 to supply and fit a replacement. A few questions: -Does anyone know of a company that can carry out an in situ' repair as the hole is clearly visible and as most of the 6hrs labour quoted is to remove and replace the clam shell? -I can source a replacement for £135 from EliseParts. Does anyone know a good garage that's capable of carrying out this repair (remove/replace clamshell) so I don't have to …
