I was looking into insurance for Elises for road and track day use. I am posting the following after I had a meeting and good discussion with one Insurance Broker - Egger Lawson/Competition Car Insurance - to see what they had that was specific to my own requirements. Doubtless the anons will come on here and say 'mine's better' -fair enough and good luck to you, but I have been unable to find what I have been after until now. I have become increasingly concerned that the general lack of knowledge from insurers about the car and lack of clarity regarding track days wasn't really satisfactory - so I've met up with Richard Egger at the above today and he has outlined an…

There I was, trawling through the Elise ads again, when I come across a metallic green S2 going for £12995.. 'Wha..?' I say to myself. Especially as its only got 11K on the clock. 'Aha!' I say as I see the phrase 'Accident Damaged/Repaired'. Although it claims it is light. I ring up the garage that has it and it turns out that the car is a fixed category D (I think thats the lightest sort). Its got everything else ok with it and I've been told that I'm welcome to get it checked over by a Lotus engineer. I'm still a bit wary though. Has anyone here had experience of buying or running previously accident damaged cars? Is it worth the bother? (Graem…

I have a friend (no it isn't me!) who is about to sell his Golf, he has been contacted by a buyer from spain, who has agreed to buy the car without even seeing it. He says he will send a bankers draft for the cost of the car plus the cost of shipping, he then wants my friend to forward the extra money to the shipper, who will collect the car. At the moment it all sounds OK, but we both still think it is a little dodgy. I've heard of scams before that are based around a buyer from abroad, but i don't know anything more. Can anyone here fill me in on any of the details fo the scam? All help is most appreciated. Cheers Ian

I've been looking at the fins on my car and to be honest I've never really been a fan of them,They go grey overnight regardless of how much back to black and assorted compounds I use(GJOB I know) and I really like the grill type mesh as on my old S1,plus the mesh was much easier to keep clean. The new Exige has mesh grills and I know without doubt(because I'm sad enough to have measured them)that the Exige grills will fit my car(111r remember). Now as some of you know, over the years I've built up a few contacts inside the hallowed grounds of Hethel and after some weeks of asking, even my most reliable contacts I'm getting nothing back to my question of "can I buy …

With the low winter sun comming on and blinding me, am considering a sunstrip, have to say whilst I think the motorsport strip looks great on an exige, not so keen with it on a soft top car...... Obviously it is practical? Anyone got pros / cons, I assume traffic lights disappear? Think I would just get a dark tinted colour, so as too not really show....?

Recieved my new camera (Fuji S602) a few days back. While the weather was nice, I thought I'd go out and get a few nice shots They would have looked better without the front plate, but couldn't be arsed to take it off! Two of my favourites.... Clicky 1 Clicky 2 2nd pic is a bit overexposed, tho. And also... Clicky 3 Clicky 4 3rd one was meant to have an unfocused background to highlight the Liz. Couldn't get it mind - don't think it likes the shiny-ness of it...

Hello, after many years of denying myself ive finally gone and bought a Lotus. Ive therefore decided it was only right i joined this club. I pick the car up Saturday, as you can imagine i can hardly wait. I will no doubt be posting a few daft questions in the future. Please humour me if at all possible, regards Martin.

Typical, first day in what seems like two months that it's dry, the suns shining, and I'm not at work..... and the cars in for a service at Horizon! Oh well, never mind. Should return better than ever and with a few niggles sorted out too hopefully. ...And theres always tomorrow! There was a Titanium S1 on the ramps when I dropped mine off this morning, does that belong to anyone on here? (Didn't spot the reg). Steve.

Hi guys Just to give some background - I did (until recently) drive an M3 and was very used to performance saloons as a whole. A couple of months ago as an organiser on another forum (for BMW's) we did a big trip around Wales which was fantastic. However, I learnt one thing - the M3 whilst very swift in a straight line is no match even for a modestly powered Z4 on a twisty B road - it also wasn't a great deal of fun. I was quite surprised. It has always been a dream to own a Lotus and so I thought fook this - lets have a go and see what its all about. Well, its like night and day (as I'm sure you know) I just can't believe how much speed you can carry thro…
