Hi people, this is my first post on this forum and I could really do with some advice... I am literally on the brink of buyinging a 1982 Turbo Esprit which I will hopefully purchase this week. I have worked hard to save the money for this car and know it is the one I want. However, I am only 20 years old and need some advise on how to get get the car insured and who with?? I am aware that certain insurance companies offer classic car insurance with limited mileage and you can get discounts if you're part of a lotus club can't you? I don't mind being a named driver and earlier got a quote of £1630, third party fire and theft, using "A Quote" as a named driver under my …

Hi chaps, i've recently seen the light and bought my first Lotus - an s1 111s Elise. Now i realise what i've been missing... fantastic fun! Anyway, the car was advertised as 'Limited Edition' - why?... i dunno! Looks exactly the same as other Elises to me. Is this just blurb applied to all Lotus cars? Is there any way i can check (before i go ahead and start making mods)? Thanks in advance. Andy

I was going to retrim my seats with Corbeau but they have no interest in doing it. I went to a local upholstery place who will add padding and retrim my seats and sill pads for £400 but tbh im not so sure about the leather he supplies. Looks a bit too "leatherly." Looks like it would be suited in a 1972 Rolls Royce. So I've enquired about getting S2 seats or S1 Exige seats but they are pretty scarce. Other alternative is the Corbeau seats as advertised on Hanger111. What do people think of these? Contemplating the ones will harness holes but I reckon having harnesses would be a pain when driving everyday. http://www.hangar111.com/products/corbeau/CorbeauS…

While I was working at Rockingham Speedway at the weekend, one of the instructors saw me next to the Elise and we got chatting. Apparently he is test driving new Elise models, and apparently theres going to be some higher powered models coming out! He wouldnt give me any details but I gather that Lotus have tuned the Toyota engine and are going to start putting these in New Elises. Sounds like they will be normally aspirated and probably kick out over 200bhp. He also hinted at Exiges with higher power as well. Well, we shall wait and see! Dave
