DeanB
Hi folks I was wondering if any of you could recommend a good wax or polish to use on my wheels. The are satin black Team Dynamics multi-spoke and are buggers to clean. My thinking is with a good coat of wax it should be a lot easier and quicker to get the brake dust and crap off. I imagine the product will need to withstand a lot of heat from the brakes though. What says MLOC? Thanks in advance 😊 Dean
Martin 111S
I just give mine a wipe over with hd wax when doing the car - no problems so far. - suggested by an AG rep Have always done it on all my cars 😎
Daveb99
Hi Dean, get yourself some Poorboys Wheel Sealant. I’ve used it for about 10 years now and it’s brilliant stuff.
Mutley00
Brakedust - I didn't think you used your brakes Dean 😁?
CDM2018
Watched u tube when I have been learning about detailing and some pro detailers indicate using 9H ceramic coating after deep cleaning etc that way you add protective layer however all is undone when you curb the wheels ! Elisemadray
just had my wheels refurbed and ceramic coated hoping thats going to help keep them neat, time will tell
lotus111
Like Ray says Ceramic coating is the way to go, easy to apply and lasts a lot longer than any polish. Should easily get two years of motoring with just a simple wash.
mattb130
After mine wheels came back from being refurbished due to a careless tyre fitter I used a ceramic coating on them. Seems to be working a treat. They come up looking new very easily after coating. I used carbon collective which wasn’t silly expensive.
MrWill
Another vote for poorboys wheel sealant here 👍
Trebor_UK
I also have used poorboys wheel sealant in the past, and it did a great job … but now ceramic coating is the way to go. Just makes cleaning so much easier and quicker.
Daveb99
Curious about ceramic coating. Does it fill small scratches in the wheels like Poorboys does (which is a wax and sealant in one)?

I don’t think ceramic coating fill in deep scratches however it could do very faint level but I suspect the key basis is make sure the surface is clean and away from damage ? Yes, prep is key I guess. I’m not convinced it would last much longer than 2 coats of Poorboys to be honest, which in my experience is superb stuff. DeanB
My wheels aren't in the greatest shape. They aren't kerbed (heaven forbid!) but they have some stuck-on brake dust from the CL pads which will probably need something harsh to remove - I can't imagine the surface will survive undamaged. For that reason I'm thinking maybe the Poorboys sealant would be best. If they were newly refurbed or minty mint like Scotty's I would prob go the ceramic route. Or am I talking sh*te? 🙂
lotus111
You are probably right in your assumptions Dean. But to answer Daves question i am probably a bit anal when it comes to cleaning my cars. I have used ceramic coating on my latest car yes new and my last Lotus 10years old and applied to one side to see if there was any benefits in the product compared to a good polish and have to say like it as been mentioned is so much easier to clean with a ceramic coating. Brake dust contamination on ceramic coated wheel is not a problem compared to a polished wheel to the extent at times you can get away without even cleaning them on a normal car wash.
