Dr H Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 I used 1m, it was £160! That almost puts my ability to spend lots on not a lot to shame!!
Dr H Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 But its a functional item! I'll have you know everything I purchase has a function. It tends to be the ability to deplete my bank account.....
danwebster Posted September 9, 2014 Author Posted September 9, 2014 Preaching to the choir my friend...
danwebster Posted March 30, 2015 Author Posted March 30, 2015 The next evolution of my car is now well underway, I'm aiming for 450hp per tonne as a minimum which should be easily achievable. I'm aiming to get the weight of the car down 50 kilos to 700 and the power well over 300hp. Started by swapping my seats for a pair of carbon tillets: And today whilst I had a spare hour I chopped the bulkhead I previously made out to give more room for the airbox I'll need to fit to get the most out of my monster new throttle bodies I'll be fitting: That engine is just a dummy that I placed there for measuring various things like the clearance for the ITB's and my new exhaust manifold:
danwebster Posted March 30, 2015 Author Posted March 30, 2015 I don't actually know Dean, I didn't think to weigh my old ones before sending them off. I imagine it'll be a pretty modest saving but it all helps!

danwebster Posted March 30, 2015 Author Posted March 30, 2015 I'd expect a bit less, they were kevlar corbeau's so not heavy. I'm going to switch to fixed side mounts rather than adjustable runners on the drivers seat though which will probably give the biggest saving.

I would have thought my figures would be something like if they'd been standard seats.
@ndy Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Love the Tillett seats, They are the best looking and comfiest in my opinion and that exhaust manifold is a work of art, who made that ?
DeanB Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Looking forward to seeing where you shed the weight from Dan. I get more excited about saving weight than big power - sad but true!
Martin R Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Saving weight is a great move and in the ethos of a Lotus. Trouble is after the obvious it becomes expensive. It also compromises the car if you use it on the road for touring etc.
