jonnyfox Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Jonny surely now it's time to junk your brake servo and abs! Losing 15 kilos from the engine sounds good. I am guessing a big chunk of that is flywheel, and some more from steel crank and rods? Love ABS. Engine is a reliable build, proven in fact but anything else pushes the envelope and I'm not interested in deviating from the plan. Have a lighter flywheel and rods already, crank is just something else to go wrong. Maybe a bag tank, new front clam. Lol sorry Dan off topic, I'll ave ya and Dean too ;-)
DeanB Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Jonny I was only pulling your leg about the abs. The engine stuff was a question to Dan.
danwebster Posted October 26, 2013 Author Posted October 26, 2013 Lol sorry Dan off topic, I'll ave ya and Dean too ;-) No chance
jonnyfox Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Ha ha sorry Dean, lol still stands to you and Dan, I have a whole new 4 months of mods to get my head around :-)
CAMotorsport Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Hi, Just a quick Q I noticed you mentioned you had put a k20z engine in out of the later FN2 CTR, did you change anything apart from the TB? Ie sensors etc Thanks Chris
danwebster Posted November 2, 2013 Author Posted November 2, 2013 Hi, Yes I changed the oil pump, sump, machined the cradle and blocked up oil returns in order to fit the shallower sump from the earlier car and delete the balance shafts. Sensors all remain though.
CAMotorsport Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 So then did you mate to an EP3 gearbox and use the EP3 engine loom? Thanks
danwebster Posted November 2, 2013 Author Posted November 2, 2013 No, z spec box and bespoke plug in loom made by clockwise motion so no chopping or splicing to do.
CAMotorsport Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 Ah ok, as I run a Z box on a k20a2, Is clockwise producing these looms?
danwebster Posted November 2, 2013 Author Posted November 2, 2013 I believe so yes, mine was basically a prototype for a production version. With the ecu I'm using its a proper plug and play solution.
danwebster Posted November 5, 2013 Author Posted November 5, 2013 Who says honda engines have no torque.....dry road, 2nd gear, 2000rpm and nail the throttle...
AlanS1 Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Thats got some go!!! very impressive. Need to get me a go in a Honda converted Elise.
danwebster Posted November 5, 2013 Author Posted November 5, 2013 You won't be disappointed I'm sure, it's an awesome tool. Finally had some driveshafts made so I've been building them up tonight, they're made from top spec material so should last a lifetime...also got the speedo ring on so I'll finally know how fast I'm going, which is nice.
danwebster Posted November 6, 2013 Author Posted November 6, 2013 I feel I've I've reached a bit of a milestone today, now that my driveshafts are fitted and the speedo works it feels like the car is 'finished'. It'll never really be finished, but stage 1 is certainly complete.
Dr H Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Who says honda engines have no torque.....dry road, 2nd gear, 2000rpm and nail the throttle... That's not torque..........this is torque! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oq89AFuO9ZY#t=0
