danwebster Posted October 16, 2013 Author Posted October 16, 2013 Haha...one of my mates on Facebook asked if I took all of the members of the Rolling Stones out as well Yeah I'm quite pleased with it really
danwebster Posted October 17, 2013 Author Posted October 17, 2013 Another little update today, after months of struggling with the lovely dual pass back box I have finally given in and taken it off and replaced it with a single straight through Tech Craft silencer. Whilst it was very quiet, the big twin pass box was a bugger to fit due to its physical size and hung quite awkwardly meaning a lot of stress was put through the joints which led to them constantly working loose and the exhaust blowing. The downside of it being so quiet was the very high probability that it was robbing some power because of the very tight bend at the end of the silencer. This has been proven by the fact that fitting the single box has leaned out the lambda ready on WOT quite a lot, so its back to the rollers to release a few more horses...hopefully we'll see 230...fingers crossed.
Stig95 Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 Nice one Dan, it looks really good. Quite strange really as I took a few ideas from you 16v Mini (I ended up turboing mine with a gt17), and now I am looking at your Elise for inspiration.
jonnyfox Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Followed one well driven around Hethel mate, well I say followed....... :-( didn't get the full spec but it was bloody quick. Other than that and two powerful sequential S2's I was looking good. It's going to be a beast Dan!
danwebster Posted October 21, 2013 Author Posted October 21, 2013 I really need to get mine on a circuit, I think it'll be awesome.
danwebster Posted October 22, 2013 Author Posted October 22, 2013 I had the car on the weigh bridge today....who wants to guess the weight....fully trimmed inside, boot installed, harnesses etc....and a full tank of fuel on board.
DeanB Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 780 with 34 litres of fuel is my guess. What's the prize if I win? ; )
danwebster Posted October 22, 2013 Author Posted October 22, 2013 780 on the nose. Not bad with a full tank!
DeanB Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Check me out! What was my prize again? : ) I agree that's pretty good. Probably about 756 with a dry tank. Does it have ally uprights? And a stereo?
danwebster Posted October 22, 2013 Author Posted October 22, 2013 Steel rear hubs, no stereo, harness bar must be getting on for 10 kilos not to mention the 12 litres of rubber paint that's on it!
jonnyfox Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 780 on the nose. Not bad with a full tank! Well that explains Hethel lol. Brilliant Dan.
danwebster Posted October 22, 2013 Author Posted October 22, 2013 What's even better news is that when I get around to building a 2.3 the engine will be 15 kilos lighter because of the internals and a couple of other tricks. 300hp and 200lb ft is the target...
DeanB Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Jonny surely now it's time to junk your brake servo and abs! Losing 15 kilos from the engine sounds good. I am guessing a big chunk of that is flywheel, and some more from steel crank and rods?
danwebster Posted October 22, 2013 Author Posted October 22, 2013 It'd be hard to lose any more from the flywheel, that's only 2.9kilos! A big chunk of that is going from a standard crank to a billet item.
