Hi all Just today I've been getting a squeeking coming from the driver side rear wheel. I can only replicate the problem when the car is stationary by bouncing it up and down on the driver's side. It's a very obvious "ee aww, ee aww" kind of sound (yes, like a donkey ). I'm thinking worn bushes? The car had its C service in May last year at Horizon Motorsport and the suspension was upgraded to S2 kit and the wishbones checked etc. Surprised this should start now. Is there a simple self fix, or do you reckon it's a trip to the dealers? Cheers Graham

I understand that the K series generally eats HGs, so ive been looking at ways to reduce the possibility of this occuring anytime soon. A thermostat seems a good place to start ... on eliseparts theres the remote thermostat and a "sports" thermostat. The remote variation is more expensive but whats better value for money? Can anyone advise me on this? Thanks!

Not sure what theyre called, but my cusion fabric things that sit on the sills by the doors are starting to look a little worse for wear. (probably trying to haul my fat ass in and out of the motor on a daily basis). Its mainly the leather that has become skuffed. Anyone got any bright ideas on how to freshen them up without buying new ones? Ta

Can anyone tell me where the VIN plate is on a S1 Elise please. The one I am looking to buy has a sticker on the screen but the first letter (an S) is different to the one on the documentation. I wondered if the S was for screen???? All the other letters/numbers are accurate. Thanks.

hi guys, hope someone could point me in the right direction. bought a 2002 elise private about 6 weeks ago. everytime i drive the car and the engine gets the chance to warm up it wont start again after being left for over 30 mins. if you go to it within say 10 mins its fine. always starts from cold too. it goes to tick over after trying to start 6 7 toimes and then starts. my mate reckons its a sensor or something. did i mention it started doing it when i washed it and some how managed to pore water down the exhaust . any help would be great. thanks

The stone that chipped my headlamp lens cover over the weekend now means that I'm wondering whether I did the right thing fixing it to the car with Sikaflex a couple of years ago. Does anyone have any experience of removing the lens cap and the Sikaflex it's fixed with. Sikaflex's own guidance on this fills me with dread ('can only be removed mechanically' )?

Hi, Has anyone replaced the Lotus bonnet badge on an early S1 ? (97). Mine is the ceramic type, and it's chipped to fook. I've aquired a new one, but have since heard I need to lift the clam as the early ones are bolted on ? Is this true (i bloody hope not) : If so, how do you do it ? Can I not just remove the grill and access that way ? Thanks as usual !

Many thanks to Billy5641 for getting me some Nylatron bushes made, they have tightened up the slop in the linkage and made the change far more precise, not too difficult to fit either, took about an hour all in, thanks again

Scary moment last night...was givin the car some stick...slowed down went to second...then...no 3rd!! Was lookin for any gear..nowt. Slowed stopped and waggled the knob about(ooer) it was just loose. I managed to find 2nd 3rd and 4th if I was lucky and limped home. My mechanic, a lotus man himself, thankfully found the fault today...a wee clip that holds the linkages. He fabricated a new one for temp and its totally fine now. Ill be fitting the Lotus part next week. Anyone else experienced this? I was shocked at how such a small part virtually disabled the car. Any way I can strengthen the gbox? bushes etc? Also there was a bit of oil around the gbox diff area tho…

Im aware that unlike turbos...NA engines require backpressure to help torque output at low rpm, therefore Lotus would have tuned the car around this blockage(the cat) so my question is...are the de-cat pipes properly engineered to prevent this unwanted effect. Im asking as many vtec and other NA owners I know who de-catted thier cars complained of this effect, Im wondering if its really worth it on the elise. As an ex turbo man...i like me torque

When I start the car, I get about a second delay, then it starts turning over slowly, a single cycle at a time, before picking up speed and the engine kicks in. Is this an indication of the brushes going in the starter motor, weak battery or something else? Please advise as I am sure I will end up being stranded somewhere if I don't sort it out soon.
