The stone that chipped my headlamp lens cover over the weekend now means that I'm wondering whether I did the right thing fixing it to the car with Sikaflex a couple of years ago.

 

Does anyone have any experience of removing the lens cap and the Sikaflex it's fixed with. Sikaflex's own guidance on this fills me with dread ('can only be removed mechanically' )?
