Replacing The Lotus Bonnet Badge

Hi,

 

Has anyone replaced the Lotus bonnet badge on an early S1 ? (97). Mine is the ceramic type, and it's chipped to fook. I've aquired a new one, but have since heard I need to lift the clam as the early ones are bolted on ?

 

Is this true (i bloody hope not) :

 

If so, how do you do it ? Can I not just remove the grill and access that way ?

They were originally bolted on so sadly I think yours will be,tbh the new plastic ones are pants,they fade in the sun very quickly.Do a search on the British cars bbs as this was covered in great depth some time ago

Yup, its a clam off job. There are ways around it, but they seem to be a pain -

 

Remove badge, drill bolts through, cut pins off new one and stick on.
