I recently bought a 99 S1 (about 3 weeks ago) all was great until recently. after driving hard it sometimes misses and kangeroos in all gears after slowing down and then pulling away. The trouble is that it doesn;t happen every time. can be ok for a few days then really bad (not to say embarassing). I guess there are a number of things it could be but I have checked the HT leads and plugs. I did run out of petrol so have also considered that I might have dredged up some crap from the tank which is causing a fuel blockage somewhere. Any other ideas would be greatly recieved. Thanks in advance!

Hi Guys, It's getting to the point were my S1 needs her suspension looking at. Now, I know what I want to fit and it starts with a big letter "N" (can't even say the word, the temptation is too much!) Trouble is, I am currently running LSS and I love the firm. raw ride. I don't want anything I buy to be a downward step or too "plush" So my question is - can I get the S2 set up - but spec it to mach my current LSS stuff? I know I can match the ride height - I'm not bothered about height adjustment - I've never touched mine since I've owned the car. Is it possible to spec spring rates to match LSS. I'm sure I heard that some people fit Exige springs…

Morning everyone . . I have noticed one of my brake discs is heavily pitted and grooved (MMC on a 97 S1).. Question is, although it is clearly fooked, will this fail an MOT ? The brakes are brilliant though (until it rains), so i dont think it is affecting performance - I could be wrong though - Can someone put me out of my misery, is my wallet about to take a hammering ? P.S. The MOT is being done legally (of course), but by a fellow early Elise owner, so he knows the score . . Sorry about the poor Pic's, I can't get this camera to focus .

Trolley Jack

Hi, I need a trolley jack, the one I normally borrow has moved house ! They are cheap as chips, I can get a 125mm entry height one for about £17. I know you only get what you pay for, but for something that I'm going to use once in a blue moon I don't fancy shelling out £99+VAT for the eliseparts "Low Entry" one.. I think theirs is about 80mm at its lowest point.. Question is, although I have a standard ride height S1 - (anything seems to fit under it OK) - I will be on Low S2 ride height ASAP (not sure yet, 110-120 seems popular recommendation on current threads) . . 110mm jack is only £30. . . Has anyone bought, or had any experience i…

Has anyone out there had a Janspeed Roadsport fitted yet to their S1...or even seen and heard one on someone elses car? It only came out in August and is mean't to be a better system than the Supersport...which i have heard from a couple of folks is very raspy/tinny sounding? The new one is mean't to be a deeper sound i think and not so loud? I have actually just bought a 3 year old unused Supersport off someone and since hearing the remarks about it last week i havn't fitted it yet...deciding what to do and all!!! Any comments on either would be great! Cheers.

Ive noticed some horrible crashing clunking noises coming from my front wheels/suspension and I wondered if this was familiar... Running original Konis, so Im pretty used to the car feeling/sounding like its gonna split into 2 when I go over bumps, but recently a couple of things are concering me and Im not sure it is just that(I dont really understand springs/dampers too well ) First time I really noticed was coming out of Sainsburys car park and they have humps which are very short and high. As I drove over them with the front, travelling very slowly, the RHS(more noticeably) made a very loud clunk as if there was no spring at all! Then yesterday, I was drivi…

After being completely put off chipping my S1, I thought I'd have a look at something else - and after recent track days where I was sliding all over the place in my seat, I fancy some bucket seats and racing harnesses. So, has anyone got any recommendations? And what should I be looking for? I quite like hte idea of a 5 point harness, but will go for 4 point if the seat is good and works well.. Also, are you limited in the sort of seats you can have that will fit in an Elise?

Disks For S2
by JRS- 5 replies

Hi there, I'm new to this club so I appologise if I'm doing this wrong! I need to replace the brake disks on my 111s (mk2) elise and was wondering what people out there are doing. The standard lotus cross-drilled disks cost £108 each. I've seen some EBC "turbo" blind drilled and grooved disks for £84 each. Whats the consensus on these, are there any other options? Cheers!

Just wondering what an A service actually entails, I'm sure I saw a list somewhere once of what is covered in each service, but I can't remember. I can only assume that an A service is an oil change, oil filter, maybe new plugs if needed. Is that correct? Just thinking I may go to a local mechanic to get that done rather than a dealer or Horizon... thanks Graham

Guys, Can anybody advise how the passenger footrest is secured in the footwell? I've taken a look at the the diagram in the parts manual and it seem that it's just the footrest and lashings of that hook & loop velcro type stuff (or am I missing something??) Apologies for the significant levels of numptiness.... Thanks Ray

Not being a huge newspaper reader (the Star is my daily 'news' paper) my wife pointed out an article in I think the Telegraph on Staurday about a new seat being developed with Lotus. Called something like Probax or something it claims to vastly improve the comfort of driving the Elise. It even went as far to say that some uninformed druvers thought that there had been a change in chassis design (?!). Also claims of better blood flow so less fatigue and risk of DVT (planes are next so they say). Anyone got any further info on these? I find the seats in mine a bit wide (slide about a bit) but generally surpisingly comfortable.

I was looking to purchase a quick shift and linkage kit but have been informed they're not really worth the money but bushes are. I've had a look at some of the prices and the nylatron wishbone bushes are approx £180 - to be honest i am not looking to spend that much and have seen bushes for sale on this forum. My Elise 111 S2 is my everyday car and won't be seeing the track so would it be worth fitting the bushes for an everyday car? Does anyone have any for sale, or know where i can get some cheap Thanks

Should I Chip It? 1 2 3 4

I was talking to Mike from Horizons about what I can do to get a little bit more poke out of my S1 without breaking the bank. I've got the exhaust, Hurricane & decat - he suggested a new chip for the Engine management system. Its about £250-300, so is affordable. Anyone got one? if so what type and are they any good?
