Just had my MOT test at a local garage near to me and passed fine apart from the headlight alignment. How hard is it to get to the headlights to change the alignment? He said that both headlights were pointing high. He will re-test and will change the headlight alignment but is not sure the best way to get to the headlights. Does it involve taking the wheels of etc? Is it possible for me to change the headlight alignment myself? Cheers, Alex.

Hi Guys, I need some advice please. When I purchased my Elise Type 23, it came with a Pipercross induction filter (but not fitted). I've now decided to pop it on and see what difference it makes (looking for noise difference really)... but... Should I stick the Pipercross on or go for a Hurricane system?? Is there really any difference or great preference? I don't really know much about either of them so some advice would be greatly received. Also... will a different induction system change the mixture? Will the ECU compensate for this? Am I barking up the wrong tree? Geeeez.... Thanks guys Regards, Mac

Hi all, Tried to start my 1998 S1 this morning but got nothing other than a loud clicking from the engine compartment. The battery seems to be powered up with no loose connections. I was out and about last night and the only untoward thing I noted was that literally as I got home I noted that the temperature had crept up to 89c whereas it's normally stable around 86/87. Any suggestions? Thanks Ray

Woke up on Monday morning to the wail of the alarm going off on the Elise This has happened once before a few months ago and as far as I'm concerned it's due to two possible things. 1) Our next door neighbours cat walking around on the roof. 2) The battery going flat for some reason. The reason for possibility 2 is that the battery is now flat Wheather that's because the alarm was going off, or the cause of the alarm going off I don't know. The battery isn't very old so I'd be surprised if it was a bad battery. I can recharge the battery no problem, the problem is that I can't turn the alarm off for some reason. Hi guys , i`m sorry for my bad english and maybe for the newbie question ... Recently i decide to replace the catalytic converter with a replacement straigh pipe . After 200 miles CEL appears on dash ... I bought from eliseparts the MIL eliminator and put it on the wires between o2 sensor and plug as detailed on the instruction . But , after that CEL still apears "online" ... How can reset the OEM ECU without visiting local dealer that is abou 200 miles from me ? I will appreciate your help ! Regards Haris

Just registered and logged on. I have just recently purchased a 2002 ruby red Elise 111S and like many others want to add some enhancing modifications. Bear in mind this is my everyday car. I am looking to purchase a Hurricane Induction Kit as i don't like the K&N already fitted. and the Eliseparts gear linkage and quickshifter kit. Has anyone fitted these mods and are they worth the money? in other words would you recommend them. I have also noticed the windscreen wipers are dreadful and have been advised to replace them. Was on my way home after a long stressful day @ work and have kerbed the rear wheel at slow speed on a kerb (bol@*ks), the wheel has a polished finish which is now flaking off and a 2 inch gash on the rim, anyone any ideas for a repair, new wheel (ker-ching)?????

Picked up my new S2 111S 3 months ago . . . brakes groan and whine just before I come to a stop after prolonged decelleration/braking. Sounds like a bus pulling into a bus-stop. Dealer (PSSC) reckoned it'd go away after 1800 miles . . . now done 2800 and it's still there. Anyone ? Normal ? Left front caliper looks like it is sitting closer (very close actually) to the disk than the right front (and the groan seems to come from the left front's direction) - any clues ? Morning, I'm wanting to paint the tow bar thingie this weekend - how does it come out ? It is in a right state. (The Grill might need a lick of hammerite whilst it is out too) I have a 97 S1, but don't have driving lights. I see on the archives that this might be a problem getting the grill out? I've had a look and can't see how it is fastened in at all.. Please don't tell me it's a clam off job, I bought a new front lotus badge months and months ago, and it is gathering dust for this very reason

Less than three months old and got all these issues.... 1) Engine stalls during idle: The engine frequently stalls when cold If you blip the throttle the revs rise and as they fall they dip to <500rpm where it either splutters and recovers ,or dies Sometime happens when hot Cold weather makes the problem worse Typically stalls when slow speed manoeuvring e.g parking Automatic choke problem??? just fitted a new ipod nano in to my elise. my stereo reads all the song data, but no noise comes out the speakers! tryed putting another ipod in, but not a nane one and it worked fine. can anyone explain y or/and how to get it workin???

I want to get some alloy window winders in place of the cruddy Metro ones for my Elise, does anybody know if the Eliseparts, Moto-Build and Bell & Colvill ones are all the same quality, or do they differ ? All about the same price, any comment would be welcome. Cheers.

Time for a new set of front pads..... Is there a problem is mixing front and rear pads? Running OEM front and rear pads and discs at the moment but the rears are fairly new and at Lotus prices i could get a set of Pagid RS42 for the front cheaper than OEM pads... Do mostly road driving with a few airfield days. What are peoples thoughts.... Cheers, Rich

Hi, my rear left brake pads are clanking, if i stop and dont put on the handbrake i can move the pad about, so when im driving it makes a clanking noise. I had my discs and pads changed a couple of months ago, started happening a couple of weeks ago. Any ideas, cheers in advance (S2 2001)
