Hi Chaps, Noticed that my coolant Level in my S2 Elise 111S was sitting on minimum. So I topped it up mid way between min and max marks. Went out for a drive then re-checked the coolant and the level was sitting at maximum level as expected taking into account expansion and all that. Left the car over night and checked again and the coolant was sitting at the minimum level again! Where is the coolant going? I have checked for leaks and there doesn't seem to be any that I can see. Has anybody got any ideas?? Cheers Jim

Folks - I'm intending replacing the red brake light covers on my S1, but to get maximum effect would like to fit red LED bulbs. Tried some at a local independent dealer last weekend but they would not come on with the sidelights only the brakes. Any thoughts advice Cheers Mark

Hi folks. Just started stripping the car down for the big timing belt change. The question I have is where do you release the engine mount? Is it the 2 bolts I have circled in the pic? Do you have to release both engine mounts or just the one shown?

I noticed that the cable is getting tighter and tighter these days, i've gone and bought a cable oiler that clamps on the cable and you pump WD40 into it, anyone got one or tried this and if so does it do the trick

Just got myself some clear indicators for the front and wondered how easy / hard they are to fit to an S1, too dark outside to see this evening so thought I'd ask on here. Thanks in advance

Coming back from Swindon I lost the front end on a bend in the wet on sunday, went straight over a central reservation (no barrier just kerbs). Front clam looks fine but both front alloys completely knackered. Unsure if any other damage as yet. Car un drivable and was towed to Dick Lovett in Swindon. Insurance company assessing it tomorrow. Any thoughts or comments on what to expect??? Know nothing aout Dick Lovett either (not sure if any members from Swindon). Advice most appreciated.

Can anyone recommend an alternative to the standard Mk1 seats? Along with the headlights, they are pretty appalling, and I should like to do something about them. Should I opt for after-market alternatives, or can they be effectively re-padded so that a: I don't slide about, and b: 200 mile journeys no longer feel like the Paris-Dakar rally?

Has anyone here converted their S1 headlights with the eliseparts dual headlight kit? Or, indeed, installed HID bulbs? I live in the middle of nowhere, with no streetlighting, and would quite like to be able to see where it is that I am going at night.

Must have been a good Shropshire Run yesterday, as when leaving for work at the crack of dawn this morning my clutch went. I can only select a gear when the engine is off, can't even force it in. After much grunching up the close and continual switching of the engine on and off, I finally gave up and rolled it back onto the drive. Mike and Wendy will sort it out, I'm sure. Just waiting on a call back. Average miles for an orginal S1 clutch (mines done 55k miles, some quite hard ones too!)?.......anyone?......

As you may have heard, liz is at NW at the moment awaiting news on the replacement of my camshaft and vvc assembly. The car is still under warranty so it should not cost me anything. Just a thought buy are there any upgrades that i could consider having done at the same time and pay the difference. Also, has anyone thought of having oil pressure/temp gauges fitted. I know you can get a dash mount that fits beside the stereo, but i dont like the look of those much, and would probably be a bit hard to see from the drivers seat. I am sure i once saw an alloy centre vertical pillar mount that fits under the dashboard on a website somewhere. Any thoughts...

Has anyone here carried out the servicing work themselves? The reason I ask is that I am planning on keeping my car until it is pretty much worthless so a dealer/specialisty service is not that important to me. I'm quite keen to change the cambelt as it has not been done yet but I have not to this day paid anybody to do what I see as fairly basic work. The thing is I've always worked on cars where you can actually get access around the engine!! Oh yes and the value of the cars were nothing like the elise! So what do you reckon? Is it worth a go or would I just be best leaving it to someone who has worked on elises before?
