Your best MLOC memory so far

So getting all mushy over my 10 years of Lotus ownership and being part of MLOC got me thinking of all the great things I've done because of it.

Just wondering what everyone's personal favourite memory of being part of our community is so far?

Done so much from trackdays, meets, Chatsworth, Supercar Sunday etc but my favourite is the big MLOC photoshoot we did back in 2008. Was quite a sight seeing all the cars arriving (rather daunting when I had to sign everyone in) and even better seeing the photos of the end result!

We have had many great times. just about impossible to pick one out. the lakes camping, the mass Le mans 24hr trips and also the Le mans trackdays are close to the top. The best thing is all the great people we have met over the years though   :)

That photoshoot was quite something at the time Laura, especially as it required a helicopter. Would be so much easier to recreate now since drones have come on the scene. Can see me and my daughter beside my old type 49 in the letter O :)

That photo shoot was great, and of course the Le Mans trip was unforgetable.

What also sprung to my mind was G's stag do trackday at Anglesey. The rest of the UK had torrential rain and we had a bone dry track all day. But it was the journey home that was more memorable, with Bill (Fentuz) with no working alternator and me with a split driveshaft boot praying we managed the 4.5 hour journey home before my joint seized up or it went dark so that Bill would have to put his lights on!! And as always G's Exige was faultless!!

My fav part of the stag do was your costumes 😋

That faultless Exige has its moments - usually in Spa!

That winter time drive in the snow! Russ was in his porsche, Scatty was in Kermit. I loved that run in the peaks...

I remember several of these. Pretty sure I have some footage somewhere of the one your talking about, I'd not long bought my first elise

The Le Mans track days are up there for me.

The best though was  a Euro trip in 2011 with Greg,Ali, Phil,Chez, Steve & Jane. We arrived at Monaco mid afternoon and tried to find the apartment we had booked, our sat nav's failed us as routes were blocked for roadworks and so did our pigeon French.  It took about 2 hours to finally find the place which was a luxury flat on the harbour front at Fontvieille. We went through a particular tunnel about 10 times and passed a gang of road workers who were doing repairs there. After the third time through the tunnel they had a look of disbelief on their faces, from the sixth time on we received cheers and applause each pass through

The day ended well with beers at 15 Euros each in Cafe de Paris and losing 100 Euros in 5 minutes at Monte Carlo casino !

Best holiday ever :)

When the MLOC chaps first came to the South Yorks / North Derbs Club Lotus meet at Baslow. Dean (who I'd only just met), commented that he'd never driven a Bell & Colvill 160, so I handed him my keys. We pootled through the village at about 20 mph and I encouraged him to put his foot down.........!

When we hit the open road, at least 4 times, he drew up to a dawdling car in front, dropped a gear and executed a perfect overtaking manoeuvre and he didn't hang around on the straight bits or the bends. When we got back to the pub and I rolled out of the car, white, wide eyed and open mouthed, Mandy stepped forward from the amused MLOC ensemble and asked if Dean had mentioned he used to race in Formula Ford. Actually no dear it must have slipped his mind :o

This always tickles me :D

😂😂 it certainly does require a certain skill base. I mastered it by the time I sold my Elise, after many failed attempts including dropping the whole roof inside the car, bars round the wrong way, roof round the wrong way etc!!
