jonnyfox Posted October 7, 2017 Author Posted October 7, 2017 Worth every penny Dan, thank you buddy.
jonnyfox Posted October 22, 2017 Author Posted October 22, 2017 I remember someone telling me, there is something so satisfying about using new parts with clean new fixings on a rebuild, its very true. Cooling (PRT), clutchtastic and starter motor
Dr H Posted October 23, 2017 Posted October 23, 2017 Using new shiny bits is great - it's just the cost that hurts! Looking great.
jonnyfox Posted October 24, 2017 Author Posted October 24, 2017 Wiggled the manifold up and on. Had to remove the oil filter and bottom engine mount. A strap helped tilt the engine to give more room. Finished by fitting the alternator heat shield and popping the oil filter and engine mount back on.
Dr H Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 You gotta love a bit of Zircotec coating Try not to bleed on it. Took bloomin' ages for it to burn off when I managed to bleed on mine!
Rob999 Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 Can you stop interrupting Dan from working on my car JF!

Little snag this evening, the boot floor could be a better fit so I'll have to get a new one drawn up and made pronto. I was hoping to fit the heat shield and the rest of the exhaust tonight. I've also decided to fit a standard engine mount and ditch the EP one. The OE mount that came off the car wins the award for best most rusted part so I'll either buy new or find a good second hand one. So a trip to see Rocky in the morning and a new hydromount. Lastly I'm going back to the original steering wheel so that's off to Allon White's to be trimmed.
jonnyfox Posted October 26, 2017 Author Posted October 26, 2017 I sanded and painted the stays again the other night, smoother than ever Popped over to UK Lotus Centre to see Rocky today. Picked up an engine mount in much better condition then my own, that's now gone for shot blasting. While I was there I had a rather emotional reunion....
chris_h Posted October 27, 2017 Posted October 27, 2017 Is comit being parted out then? Assumed it would be on the road somewhere.
jonnyfox Posted October 27, 2017 Author Posted October 27, 2017 I stripped it and sold the parts after the engine let go. Track Group bought the chassis off me but it's found its way back to Halesowen. I didn't ask Chris although the chassis is straight.
jonnyfox Posted November 1, 2017 Author Posted November 1, 2017 Reused my old door seals which apart from the adhesive were perfect. So I used some VHB tape to stick them back onto the car. Cleaned the filthy hinges, used the old shims which were Zinc coated a while ago, popped in new like for like fixings and went all S2 with the spring plates (which I'd also shot blast, Zinc & powder coated) ) by adding the plastic follower. Will pop the door cards on and maybe the stickers tomorrow.
The Cakes Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 I’ll drop mine off, when you’ve finished yours.
