Due to the cr@p roads / speed humps near to where I live, I am in need of rear shock absorbers. The front shocks are fine. Need to be done before MOT in March too I have a local garage who is willing to fit them too. Can someone point me in the right direction to where I can purchase them from and how much. I am in Long Eaton, Nottingham. Thanks in advance Derek

Hello All, I’m a posting virgin so please be gentle with me!! I have recently joined MLOC as I have not long purchased an S2 111S. One of the things that convinced me to get one was reading the forums about the enjoyment Lotus ownership brings. Having owned one now for two weeks I can see what you all mean!! The only one minor complaint I would have is the gear change. I previously owned an Alfa Spider and although the Elise is better in nearly every respect, the one thing that was great on the Alfa was the gearbox. I have searched the forums and seen that one of the most worthwhile mods to the S1 is the replacement linkage and QS kit. My question…

A few days ago, the rubber grommit(?) bung thing that holds the roof allen key got pushed into the plastic surround. Had a quick look and it doesnt look easy to remove. Anyone here had that problem? TBH, it might be just as easy to get a new one from the dealership if its too much hassle and stick that over the hole. Anyone tried it? Also, been looking for an ipod holder(4g 40gb) with little success. The official ones seem to be for a cup holder, which is pretty useless in the elise. Managed to get a carphone warehouse universal phone holder to work perfectly in the honda and might try the same though not sure where to stick it. One of you gadget boys+girls must have …

So the Lotus OE qute from Peter Smith is £50.00. Eliseparts is £26.00. Hmmmm - seems a simple enough choice - anyone fitted an Eliseparts cable??? Cheers Mark

After my disk/caliper interface on Ladders Great Welsh Adventure, and the knackered MMC disk I'm left with, I wanted to ask if there is any problem with replacing the front disks with EBC Turbo's in steel and leave the rears as MMC alloys until I need to change them ? Needless to say, but if this is an acceptable practice there will be one (30k miles) MMC and pads up for grabs if someone needs one. Is it a go'er ?

Where can I get a sump plug seal from? Is there a particular thing I need or can I just get a particular size from Halfrauds? I assume the filter is the standard for a Rover K series.

Hi All, I have noticed recently a ticking coming from behind me when i accelerate, when i lift off it stops. To me this points to the fuel pump , but does anyone here know any different, or does anyone have any other suggestions as to what it may be? Cheers all Ian

Done Only took us about 2 hours mainly due to some parts that were a PITA to remove due to being there for 4 years I suppose. Haven't had chance to have a proper "drive"...but on my initial impressions... Its better. Does exactly what it says on the tin and reduces the slack - Its nothing major, just feels a bit tighter and smoother. Its not a mod I'd rave about, and tell people its a "must have", but its ok. I think it depends on how much it bothers you as standard, so I'd recommend that you had a drive of an Elise thats got it fitted before you rush out and do it. Would I fit one again if I had another Elise? I think so, but it wouldn't be a priority... …

So I just finished fitting a new light stalk & was having a winter interior cleaning session on my S1 Elise when I tugged at the boot release lever & the cable split an inch or two along from the drivers door end. Q1 - how the hell do I get the boot open now? Q2 - how do I then fit a new cable? All the best for the New Year! Mark

Ok, so I'm totally fed up with square tyres on the front now. I have to replace them, but don't want the thin Potenzas. I have virtually new Potenzas on the rear but want extra width and grip on the front. What are my choices?

Hello, Trust everyone is having a good christmas So as santa has told me there's a hurricane kit in the post i was wondering about which exhaust to get! I'd like a Larini but Hanger 111 are doing that 0% thingy, so what does the Quicksilver sound like? Is it more Janspeedy or more Larini? I've listened to the clips on the site but they all sound the same to me cheers Jez

Cheers for the PM. I have had another look at the indicator stalks. From the pic below is this where you cut of the plastic indicator? Need some new rear brake discs as Mike at Horizon has pointed out at the service, they are rusted to buggery. The car is juddering on braking which is most disconcerting. The fronts are oem I believe, and I simply dont have the budget (or will) to get the ali belled Eliseparts ones, though Id like to get some discs that didnt oxidise quite so quickly and look sh!tty(gjob territory). Was thinking of EBC turbo grooved discs (s1). Got a few questions: 1) Are there any other options that are in a similar price bracket and better ~£150(from Eliseparts) 2) Am I fine keeping the same used brake pads on (EBC greenstuff) or is it a must to replace these. They are new(ish) 3…
