Help The Virgin! 1 2

Hey people. Ive been checking out the MLOC website for a while and finally decided to register, so this is my Virgin post!! I'm sadly not a Lotus owner at the mo, but looking to purchase a little beauty in the New Year. Would be much appreciated if you folks could help me with the wee prob of my Insurance. At the tender age of 22, insurance guna rip my arm off, but was wondering which Elise's are cheaper to Insurance. I realise a 160 is way out the Question, along with 111's but ive been told a Sports Tourer may be the best option. Any replies will be appreciated. Ta

Well after having to ring EGG to find out what the conclusion to my claim was (Cheers for letting me know!) It resulted in 50/50 blame, with my full no claims going down to 3 years So, now all I have to do is write them a sh*tty letter about there appalling customer service and post on every single driving site I can about what they did to me. Just wondering though, would I get in trouble for posting this sort of thing on internet sites warning others not to use EGG? Cheers Dave

Guys I have my 111s on order for delivery March 05. No real reason other than better weather etc. However - I look through the brochure every day and its getting a bit worn out and it got me thinking - soddit - get it now !!! Is this a waste of time though?? It will be a second car and so only used at weekends or 'reasonable' weather days. I've never owned a car like this before and could do with an opinion on whether I should just wait or go for it now!!! Matt

I’ve recently decided to take a redundancy package that’s on offer in order to travel for a year. There’s no way I’m getting rid of the Elise, but I’m not sure what to do with it whilst I’m away… no, you can’t borrow it ;-) Firstly, insurance, I obviously don’t want pay a fortune for insurance when I won’t be driving it, but on the other hand, I’d like to have cover against theft etc. Can you get theft only cover if it’s left in a garage? Secondly, if it’s just sat in a garage for a year, what sort of problems am I going to encounter when I get back? It will be at my parents so I could get them to start her up once in a while etc, anything else they could do? …

I used to have a Morris Oxford (1952) which the last I saw was in about 1996. It was being restored at a company in Flitwick. After months dragged into years I was getting fed up with the lack of progress, so gave them an ultimatum. Never got a reply and the phone stopped working. Whent down to see what was going on and the company was gone, along with my car. Received a letter today from the DVLA stating that someone else has applied for the V5 for my car. So what shall I do? I don't want someone else to get title to my car after running off with it. Will the DVLA tell me who has applied and at what address? Iguess Data Protection Act will stop them doing…

Just got back from my trip to Lille in france. The guys at Sea Cat were great at helping me get the car on and off the ship. The car didn't ground at all. (even had a guy lie on the ground watching the bottom of the car directing me and it was raining!!) They also parked me in a very good spot well away from other cars Then drove to the Soffital in Lille feeling really proud of my car as everyone was looking at it (even more than england). Only to find a brand new S2 Exige Cup parked in the Hotel Lobby !!! It had full roll cage, huge fire extinguisher, adjustable suspension and according to the lotus website a limited slip diff and an uprated clutch

I would just like to confirm the views of others on this site and recommend Horizon for any elise work. I had an 'A' service and some braided brake hose's supplied and fitted today at what I think is a great price i.e. £234 (Orchard wanted £279 for the service). Add to that the free bacon sarney and helpful/friendly people and they have a great offer worth travelling for. Try them, you won't go elsewhere again. Ben (T25) Ruz
