Phil.S Posted June 2, 2008 Author Posted June 2, 2008 Yay tonight it finally runs. Heres the proof: Crappy phone vid Sounds awful on the vid but hey its running! All that time I spent arsing around with it and it was because it had the wrong fuel injectors - you live and learn hey. I reckon it will be fairly quiet as its got no silencer on ATM and it sounded like my K when I had the 4-2-1 and de cat on. For any of you folks following the finer details here's some pics of the downpipe I have made: First half from turbo to centre of sump (All heatwrapped of course): Then centre of sump to Silencer - I'm gonna join it in the middle as there's no way the pipe will go on as one piece: So when all on it comes out in exactly the right place: Used mild steel parts from jetex as the TIG welder at work has packed up so that leaves me with the MIG unfortunately or maybe I would have gone for stainless... Oh and heres a pic of the enormous oil leak from the head after 2 mins of running: Aparently its a case of TADTS eventually! So its off for a skim while I sort the alternator mounting and were ready to roll. Target is the end of June... Fingers crossed.
JonS Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Crikey Phil! Remind me to turn my speakers down next!! Glad you got it running properly! There is a light at the end of the silencer!
mambosasa Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 So Phil, whats the latest? She is running now, but have you been out on the road with it? Any better than the K?
Phil.S Posted June 8, 2008 Author Posted June 8, 2008 So Phil, whats the latest? She is running now, but have you been out on the road with it? Any better than the K? The plaN was to get it all sorted this weekend however mounting the alternator has taken almost all of saturday and sunday so I'm a little behnind schedule. Got the head skimmed in the week and its back on. I've just run out of time to get it going tonight so hopefully some time in the week I'll get it on its maiden voyage. I'm upset cos its not finished but pleased that all the sh1tty jobs are now done. Stay tuned....

Martin R Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 Excellent and well done. Is the extra weight in the back noticable ?

AnthT Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 cool, so, when are you going to start selling this conversion
Phil.S Posted June 16, 2008 Author Posted June 16, 2008 Excellent and well done. Is the extra weight in the back noticable ? I don't know yet martin. First thoughts are for normal road driving it will be OK. Hard to say yet though as I haven't exactly been hurling it into the bends yet!! Aiming for donny or silverstone towards the end of summer for a proper kaning! Got some funny looks driving it round with the rear clam missing Bis - Cheeky bugger!! Anth - not sure if anyone would want a kit TBH but there may be a small majority of people who are after some budget power? It's in the back of my mind alright. Everyone else - cheers for the comments!
Win28s23 Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Hi, I have been following your thread for some time. Congratulations on the conversion. Fantastic job! Well done! I think you would be suprised how many people would be interested in the conversion - I would be depending on cost! Simon

Can't be any worst than the VX220 turbo thats a cast iron block. I'm sort of expecting a bit of rear suspension tweaking will be involved anyhows. Stay tuned!
