I had my car serviced today to be told that the altenator has worn bearings and needs replacing at a cost of £260 (part only). It is not covered under warranty as it is an electrical item...hmmmm....so I have left a message with Lotus Customer Services suggesting that on a 2 year old car with less than 13k miles on the clock, the altenator should not fail and am looking for a 50/50 share of the cost. Does anyone have experience of taking this route ? Am I likely for success or doomed to a lighter wallet ? Cheers, Steven

Wow, how much better does the car feel for new boots!! Advan Neovas all round, fitted at NW very pleasant people there too I have no experience of other tyres on my car, but these ones just feel fantastic, and ive still got miles to run them in properly. will 200 miles of gentle driving be ok? Had the S2 wiper fitted to.. hence the dodgy song lyric above lol, it clears the screen, always a bonus in rainy conditions! lol Few bits need sorting on my car [head gasket is starting to leak, eek!] and i hope to find my missing centre cap to one of my front wheels at NW tomorrow... There was a brand spanking new S2 black exige parked out the front too, i know pe…

Only a short trip to see how things are... doctor told me to drive if i can as it is a good form of physio for ankle... which kinda makes sense i guess I did my drive to work to see if i will be able to do that, it was okish, but hurt a little doing "there and back" so i think the rest at work should make it ok. Kinda need to drive as i'm off to see Zero 7 in concert tomorrow and can't get there otherwise Feels weird being back in the car... almost overshot a junction aswell as i forgot the brakes need pressure...

Servicing And Geo 1 2 3

Hi all, Need an 18k service and geo sorting (apparently it's significantly out of line). I live in Nottingham, so the much recommended NW in Birmingham is a long way, but I am horrendously paranoid about being ripped off, so am willing to go there if no one can suggest another 'safe' option. In 15 years I've never taken my car to a garage for service as I'm kinda handy under the bonnet and my car used to be worthless, but I suppose I need the 'service history'. So: 1) Is anywhere nearer Nottingham well recomended? 2) How much am I looking at for an 18k service and geo fixing? 3) Does anyone service their own S2? How can I find out what's involved? I wou…

Been...playing...today. Found a little stretch of road by me thats quiet and twisty and started practising the "slow in, fast out" technique. Now I understand that words/advice are never going to replace something like the 1stLotus course, but until I get the time/funds to do it, this will have to do Now, I've always been used to driving FWD, but my method goes something like this... 1. Bend approaching - progressive braking, slotting down the gears, for extra engine braking. 2. Select a gear that gives mid to high RPM (to allow for max. adjustablilty mid-bend?) as you travel through the bend. 3. Hold a constant throttle as you turn through the bend, stayi…

Where can you get it supplied from? Was thinking of replacing those pants material bits on the sill trims etc with something more hardwearing! Anyone got a web link? Cheers Dave

I know prices are going to rising what with summer approaching, but some people must be joking... http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/detail.asp?i=20687&s=12 How much! 63k and privately maintained for the last 23k! And its a 1997! http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/detail.asp?i=20379&s=12 £14k for a class *C* repaired write off Sport160...and they haven't even fitted the correct front clam. Gives me confidence that I'll get (pretty much) what I payed for mine when I sell it. What are prices going to be like in June/July???

Pig of a day: Drove all the way to NW to collect my hard top (only 13 months late). Drove all the way home in the Beamer. Took the rather large box out of the boot only to notice a mark down the middle of one side of the carton. You've guessed it nasty scratch straight down the middle of the roof!! Somewhat annoyed because the box was already opened so somebody new this was damaged. So I guess it's going to be another trip to NW and then another and so on Well pissed off today. Dave.

I've been trying to view Mark A's video clips from his website - the computer opens up windows media player, does the buffering thing ok, then downloads the codec (whatever that is!!) but comes up with a codec error, leaving me with audio only. Any ideas? Don't have the same problem with Real One Player.

Any of you folks see the stuff on SELOC about the new exige roof being removable? Anyone know any more? If it genuinely is removable I think it might increase sales a fair bit. Main thing that would put me off is the fact that it would be an end to topless motoring...someone mentioned that the warranty is dodgy if you drive without the roof though, or that the air intake woudln't work properly. Very odd. Still not quite sure if this was a wind up or serious. Stated that it's about as difficult and time consuming as putting an S2 hardtop on/off i.e. pretty straight forward. Kristian
