Big thankyou to Dave for meeting me in the pouring rain last night to lend me a pot of Permabond for my brake calipers. Thanks a million buddy. Not got round to re-assembling things yet as I spent last night trying to remove the Lambda sensor - you were right - it is an absolute twat of a job and wouldn't advise anybody trying it unless your manifold is on a bench! The sensor is still in place - but I have a cunning plan involving a hacksaw blade, 22mm socket and extension bar! Dunc

Was having a chat to a chap at work today about Mazda MX-5's as he's thinking about getting one of the early ones for his wife. Now, I seem to remember reading somewhere that the original MX-5 was either partly developed by Lotus, or was designed as the next model Elan but Lotus sold the design onto Mazda. Am I totally confused or does anyone know anything about this. I've been doing a bit of surfing on the web to try and find something to support what I remember reading but had no luck yet. I'm begining to think I've made it all up in my head now!!! hehe! Cheers, Steve.

...for younger Elise owners? Some of you will know that I've just taken Graeme's (G13CCK) S1 Elise off his hands and I'm shopping round for good insurance quotes. Being 26 and driving a powerful car already I'm used to paying fairly high insurance, my Cupra R is £660 even with 6 years no claims through Adrian Flux. So far my best quote for the Elise (remembering that I can't use the no claims for it) is £830 from Adrian Flux. This isn't actually too bad and I'm happy enough to pay it, but wondered if there are any other members around my age with an Elise who have found companies who can give better premiums? Thanks for you help Graham

Spa Dash Unit 1 2

For those of you who made it to the NEC this weekend, you may have come across SPA dash unit. Its very similar size to the standard stack unit ( marginally smaller, I think), however, one of the key feature is the illuminated tachometer needle that changes colour as the revs build up to programmable shift points. Has anyone seriously looked into this as an upgrade? Is it worth the 700 quid odd? www.spa-uk.co.uk/design/dashsystem.htm

I'm sure there are quite a few people with this annoyance, is the Anti Squeal brake silencer kit available from Elise parts any good? Or are there better home brew remedies?

I am looking at the different option packs for the Exige (for no reason in particular!), and appear to have option packs available, can anyone explain what you get with the touring pack, and the performance pack. I can kind of guess what the bias is, but wanted to know the specific spec, i seem to recall the performance pack having twin oil coolers, but beyond that memory is not serving well. I also have the following options list. I understand most of it bar the first one which pertains to having silver wheels i think, but that sounds normal to me ? DUHL (F)16 ®17 14SPK ICE SLV ALLY DUHG (F)16 ®17 16SPK BLK ALLOY AATF AIR CONDITIONING CEGD ALCANTA…
