  ** Mloc 2010 Calendar Sale **
Posted by JonS - 02-4-10 21:31 - 6 comments
MLOC CALENDAR SALE

We have now shipped all ordered calendars and are very pleased to receive so many positive comments and thanks. We certainly feel this is best calendar we have produced to date.
However this year we were optimistic on the quantities ordered so we still have some calendars remaining. To recoup at least some of the costs back so MLOC isn't so out of pocket we have decided to have a sale of the remaining items.

Prices are as follows (Note each link takes you to the specific offer):

-------------------------------------------
Deal 1: Buy one calendar for £9

-------------------------------------------
Deal 2: Buy two calendars for £15

-------------------------------------------
Deal 3: Buy three calendars for £20

-------------------------------------------

MLOC calendars are ultimately subsidised already and we don't use them as a profit exercise but instead as a good way to promote the club and to give something back to the members so this sale is just a way of minimising the losses.

If you wish to take us up on any of these offers please follow the above links to the order pages. Payment is safe and secure through PayPal, and you don't need a PayPal account to use the service.

Don't miss out on your chance to get a great piece of club memorabilia and help support your Midlands Lotus Owners Club.

Many thanks,

The MLOC Team!

Smoke Inside Cockpit Of My S1
Posted by Reverend Green - 02-9-10 21:01 - 2 comments
Hey all!!

Haven't posted anything for yonks on here, only ever want something when something is wrong. Yeah yeah i know lol!

Anyway i have an S1 T79 had it for 5 years now it sits in the garage minding it's own business most of the time, having completed a massive 600 miles in 4 years you can see how much use it gets.

Usually the car gets driven for a couple of weeks before and after MOT each time i've used it over the last few years there has been a very faint burning smell in the cockpit which goes away after a short drive. Last weekend however i went to move it to my place of storage and once again the burning smell came. This time though there was a lot more smoke in the cockpit on the
passenger side when i came to a halt it filled the car with a light smoke inside. I suspect that something is leaking and is getting warm when the car is started and burning off. Like i say after maybe 15 minutes everything was back to normal again.

I've searched the forums and can't find a similar story, so my question is where do you think the problem is coming from, where shall i start to look first etc.

Any advise and knowledge greatly received.

  Spyker To Coventry
Posted by kimbo - 02-9-10 15:06 - 0 comments
Good news then for the depleted Midlands car industry....

Spyker, which has been loss-making since it was established as a company in 2000, will base production in Coventry at one of its suppliers, CPP Manufacturing.

The Zeewolde, Netherlands-based company is one of the most exclusive car brands in the world. It produces models by hand and has made just 300 cars since 2000.

Roughly 45 out of 135 jobs are to be lost in the Netherlands following Spyker's decision, but these could become new jobs in the UK. The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders called Spyker's decision to relocate vehicle assembly "good news" for the UK. "The UK has more specialist sports car manufacturers than any other European country and the skills and expertise to support further development," Paul Everitt, chief executive, said.

Victor Muller, the chief executive of Spyker Cars, said the company wanted to be nearer key suppliers and that the move would "secure the future of our business" in "challenging times". The weakness of the pound against the euro is believed to have made shifting production to the UK even more attractive.

CPP, which stands for Coventry Prototype Panels, employs around 100 people and also works with the likes of Aston Martin and Bentley. Brendan O'Toole, managing director, said CPP was one of the "leading low-volume manufacturers in the industry".

Woohooo..... My Chrissy Pressie Has Just Arrived

A pair of these from Ali biggrin.gif

Attached File  my_new_seats.jpg ( 33.55K ) Number of downloads: 2

I ordered them through Hangar111 in december, but they were made to order at the Lotus trimshop. They are very similar to Dr H seats in his elise, but i choose all leather instead of leather/alcantara as i tend to leave the hood down alot and i thought that rain showers would be easier to brush off the leather.
I have to say that Hangar 111 have been very helpful throughout the process. I found a seat template on the net, and then decided exactly what design/colours i wanted and then e mailed it to Marianne. They took the payment and ordered the seats for me.
Really happy at the moment biggrin.gif

I will have to have a go at fitting the seats this weekend.

Oh, and thanks Alison wub.gif

Lotus F1 Undeterred By Negative Comments
Posted by Mark H - 02-9-10 11:22 - 0 comments
QUOTE
SPECULATION fills the scene as Lotus F1 Racing prepare for the much awaited launch of their car in London on Friday, but chief executive officer Riad Asmat believes all negative airs will be cleared when the car is unveiled.
“This is no mock-up car. It is a running car with an engine in it that has been a result of about 100 days of hard work. We are fighting for every single detail there is,” said Riad yesterday.

The Cosworth V8 engine in the back of the Lotus F1 car had already been fired up for the first time on Saturday night, and today, test driver Fairuz Fauzy is due to put the car through straight line tests at the Silverstone Circuit.

Fairuz will then join race drivers Jarno Trulli and Heiki Kovalainen at the Jerez Circuit in Spain next Wednesday for the first official tests.

There has been speculation on the ground that the team lack sufficient funding to make it through their debut season which begins at the Sakhir Circuit in Bahrain on March 12-14.

There have also been no sponsorship announcements by the team, which adds to the speculation.

“I think we’re due a little bit more credit. So far, of the new teams, only Virgin and us have our cars ready and we will be on the grid in Bahrain,” said Riad.

“People can speculate that Campos might not start the season, that we won’t make it through the season or anything they want. At the end of the day, it is up to our determination to make things happen.

“This is Malaysia and I’ve learned to accept this, that people are eager to draw on the negative out of everything. But they should see what we have done and all will be unveiled on Friday.”
