KurtB
Jonny, this thread is great (and inspirational)! Where are you going to put your washer bottle? I don't think I'll move mine, but I'm interested to know how you're going to achieve the change. Cheers, Kurt
jonnyfox
You'll need to get rid of your AC Kurt. This is the bad boy in the way... https://www.deroure.com/diagrams.asp?TBL=1639&MAK=1&MDL=16&SMA=0&SMO=0&ST=&SC=0 It sits next to the heater in the gap. Lots going on.... KurtB
Ah, my car isn't fitted with air con! I was wondering where it all fitted, very insightful. It looks like you'll loose some weight there. Tell me, are you painting your zinc coated surfaces with black POR directly, or priming first??
jonnyfox
No I suppose if you're painting directly on to zinc coat maybe just wipe over with some surface prep like anything else I guess Kurt. What are you painting black? Also POR do a Zinc primer, it's basically a spray so that would do a good job of priming rather than getting Zinc coated in future. So I'll have two spare switches now the AC is removed (AC & Recirculation), what to use them for...
MilesH
It's great to see this being given the attention it deserves! It feels like you're restoring MLOC history

jonnyfox
Looks like one for the fan and one for the water pump
jonnyfox
So a bit of a tidy up. Steering rack back from Titan. I'd forgotten to paint the steering arms upon install so remedied that with some POR prep and 2 coats of POR15 black. Same with the ARB. Wishbones shot blast and back Zinc coated. Gave them two coats of POR 15 clear. Should get them on tomorrow and the master cylinders changed......
jonnyfox
Will do Simon. The next two weeks should see the back of this work properly broken. Busy day today, satisfying though...
jonnyfox
Spent the morning ordering a few parts and changing over the brake and clutch cylinders. Getting to the bolts on the inside wasn’t much fun at all, especially the far left for the clutch. I think I may have actually experienced my first attack of claustrophobia! Fairly straightforward as John says although I haven’t checked the peddle preloads or bled the system yet. A little bit of corrosion in between that was easily removed with the POR stuff. Refitted the lines and fitted the braided hoses. Will fit the discs and callipers when the rest of the bits arrive next week. May get the rad on later. Will however remove the engine next week now the stand and lift have arrived….. Anyone tell me how to pick it up? No more rust!
