Just bought a full car set of Mintex 1144 pads from EliseParts. They came with some "free" anti-rattle buffer pads.

What am I supposed to do with these ?????

Depending on what pads you currently have fitted you may well find that the Mintex pads are smaller meaning they can move up and down in the caliper and cause them to rattle over bumpy surfaces. Once you've removed your old pads you'll probably find there are already some anti-rattle strips fitted as standard, as per the photos in this link (the red areas marked 'A')

If your new pads are loose then fit your new anti-rattle pads on the lower of the 'A' surfaces. From experience, I wouldn't advise fitting them at the upper position. Over time, with the combination of heat and the pad being forced upwards during braking, I found that the pad created a groove in the anti-rattle strip which then started to restrict the pad movement against the disc.

Putting them on the backs of the pads can make the brake feel a little spongy until they've been compressed a bit by the piston.

I've just had some new CL RC5+'s fitted on the front. This pair seem to rattle quite a bit more than the set that's just been taken off. Also dabbing the brake pedal you can hear a clack on the pad being grasped by the piston again the disc.

They also seem more squeeky than the previous set, but that could be the newness of them I guess.

Slight tangent there, but as for anti-rattle pads, they were fitted to my old set of CL's and worked very well. This time they seemed smaller (from the same supplier) and the pads still rattle. I might take my new pads out to make sure they are in the the right place. Those images on that guide will be useful to check against.

Jon, i have always done the same as Phil and just fitted them to the bottom inner face. Works fine for me and no rattling on CL5+

I had the famous rattling on the front with mintex, pagid and perf friction...

Some years ago, Martin @ topgear told me to put some copper grease on the back of the pads (piston side). the rattling stops, it seems the copper grease acts as a light glue between the piston and the pad; not spongy effect.

Ever since I have been doing that using the Nutella approved spreading technic on the back of the pad and bushed the calliper houser with copper grease too. I've done several trackdays without any rattleing issue.
