Phil S1 Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 Suspension damage as such isn't a problem, but it's damage to the suspension mounts in the chassis at the front that is. If the wishbone has been pulled out of the chassis then as yet nobody has come up with a viable repair. You can't weld the aluminium because it's too close to the bonded joints. Some kind of bonded repair ought to be feasible I guess but generally you're looking at a new chassis and that's what writes the car off. Financially viable to do yourself but the labour costs at a garage would be too prohibitive. Damage at the rear is less of a problem because the suspension mounts onto the steel sub-frame.

Still a lovely looking car, like the number plate too, sure the same plate or very similar was on another mlocer's Exige in the past.
richbk Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 so when it says "damage to n/s front engine mounts" basicly its fubar'd. same as it ticks all the boxes i would like for my next exige and i have a good freind who runs a reputable and knowledgale repair shop, but new chassi and front clam plus radiator etc. i guess would run to ££££££ shame richbk
Stumason10 Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 Pretty tough to repair, there have been ones repaired though. Try someone like essex autosport, they have good knowledge of fixing lots of bent elises.
