dobbo Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 Gutted !!! forgot my MOT was due this week and just had it tested this afternoon AND IT'S FAILED on brake pads!!!! - Tester not working in the morning so even if i got the pads replaced there's no way I can get the car legal again in time for tomrrow. I'll still come along but unfortunately the car will have to stay at home. Typical !!! just my luck. He says I could really do with new disks all round as well - any advise as to the best place to source new disks and pads would be most welcome - will be my first job as a relatively new Elise owner. Do you have any time left on the old MoT (ie Saturday ?) ? If so, you can still drive it until the end of the day it expires. New parts ? Eliseparts.com. Possibly not the cheapest, but there won't be much in it, and their service is excellent.
Sonya Posted August 15, 2008 Author Posted August 15, 2008 Thanks to everyone for their enthusiasm for this event, a list of 67 so far is a great acheivement, getting you all in position for one photography session is an event greater one and tomorrow promises to be quite an event. I am now drawing a dotted line under the current 67 so that we can finalise the plans tonight for our formation. Any more who sign up are of course welcome and we will be using them to surround the formation to finish the picture off and to fill in any gaps where we may have no-shows. Have a great drive over and see you all tomorrow.
S1 Steve Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 I only found out my MOT had expired when i tried to tax it shame you can't bring it.

Ran out on the 12th unfortunately - came back from hols on the 8th and just completely forgot about it.
Elaine Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 See you all in a bit. E&R. Can't wait for my name badge, I've been banging on about 'em for yonks!Don't get too excited, it's just a sticky name badge! But for you I'll stick a gold star on it... Of course I'm excited I won't have to try to remember folks names. Cue badge swapping! E.
niallf Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Hi Guys, band practice moved to this morning, so should be there for 3pm. See ya later. Niall
Phil.S Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 After faffing around with my car all morning I set off way too late to get there by even 3.30. Autoroute said 45 mins but tomtom decided it would take 1hr 20 mins. Tried to make up the time but just turned around in the end. Absolutely gutted. Hope everyones enjoying themselves.
Dr H Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Hi all Great turn out. Thanks to everyone who helped organise this. Can't wait to see the pics. Over 80 cars I understand. 80 Lotuses and only 1 RAC van - must be a record. Didn't catch your name but hope you get the gearbox sorted soon.
JonS Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Fantastic afternoon! Thanks you ALL SO SO much for turning up and being so patient with Mark's, Steve's & my waving you about and thank you for not running us over! I've opened up a gallery for everyones pictures - here Feel free to put all your photos in there. Those I did get chance to meet - it was great to meet you, those I didn't, sorry! Sorry you couldnt make it Phil - was really keen to see your 'new' motor. Can't wait for the results - early indications show we have some great shots. Thanks to everyone for their work, time and effort, and well done Jamie for hanging out the chopper! I think the official count is 83 but well be able to tell from the pics Thanks again, GREAT FUN!!!
davidcwhalley Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Amazing day!! and the rain held off. A few spots of rain as I came past Ashby DLZ, but thankfully I managed to keep moving. I followed a Blue S2 elise as far as Ashby and as we came over the bridge out of BoT to Stapenhill, with a couple of cars between us, a group of lads spotted him and shouted something. I guess it was complimentary because when they spotted me one shouted "I prefer yours!" :-)
JonS Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 Just for historic reference, this is the drawing I put together for the 68 expected turn out: All measured off centre line Based on the Elise chassis, giving the two blue dots for everyone to drop their driver side wheels on
G Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 cool, looks like i may have landed on 57, (See user name) what were the chances of that ?
