Adventures of an S1 Elise in Germany

Some of you will know, but for the rest, I'll be working in Germany near Mannheim until end of 2026 with 75% of my time there, and 25% back home.

As i fancy doing some different roads, and I've booked two weekend driving tours with Delightful Driving company (run by Elisa Artioli), on Thursday 10th July I'll be setting of in my S1 Elise, and 4 days later I plan to arrive at my apartment.

I plan to post about my driving adventures over there, so keep an eye on this blog should you be interested.

what route are you taking into Germany ? 
 

my only foreign lotus drive was a crazy weekend when I took the wife to Paris to see Robbie Williams maybe 15 years ago at the Stade De France and we covered 800 miles in 36 hours on about 3 hours sleep and a few Le Red Bulls . The periferquice and Champs Elisie were like wacky races ( google it kids !) and no fun in over 90 degrees , I had to put the roof on !!

All packed and ready to set of Germany in the morning. 1st stop LeShuttle, 2nd stop a hotel 1 hr from Calais. 1000kms in total (in a car with no air conditioning). Plan to arrive in Ladenburg sometime on Sunday. Can't beat the sound of a petrol engine Wish me luck

Today's destination is Prum in West Germany. After yesterday's 350km of boring motorways, set the prefered route type in my tomtomapp to thrilling. Not sure if there are any thrilling roads in Belgium, but will see where it takes me 🙂

Just arrived at my hotel in Prum. After leaving Dinant where I had lunch by the river, I was treated to 150kms of some fantastic driving roads through forests and rolling countryside. Smooth surfaces, free of potholes, other cars and traffic speed cameras. An afternoon that will live in my memory. And all in one of the best driving machines ever built, the Series 1 Elise, what a car 🙂

Have to say though, that the morning drive from my hotel to Dinant was somewhat disappointing. Not very interesting scenery, seemed lots of villages to drive through so difficult to get into a rhythm. Maybe I was just unlucky with the route tomtom picked for me
