Happy Christmas MLOC and fill your boots. In fact it is £10.80 for 4l as i have ordered 3 lots for the Fiesta.
russelld Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 They do a similar offer each year, I'll be getting 8ltrs for the Porka. :-)
Y28CJS Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Actually I need to pick up some more oil soon, however thought this stuff was best for a 111s with a K series engine... Thoughts? http://www.halfords.com/motoring/engine-oils-fluids/engine-oil/castrol-edge-10w60-oil-1-litre
Martin R Posted December 28, 2015 Author Posted December 28, 2015 After asking oil man for the recommended oil for my old K series 111s, he recommended 5w - 40.
graeme_laslett Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 5w-40 will be fine for mainly road use and the occasional trackday. http://www.midlandslotus.co.uk/forum/classifieds/item/761-5w40-oil-service-kit-k-series-lotus-elise-lotus-exige-340r/
Daveb99 Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Has to be worth £12 - would this be OK in my S1 Sport 160??
graeme_laslett Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 The oil that Halfords have on offer is a budget blended oil made for them by Comma. I personally would not use it in a "sports" car as it's shear tolerances will break down at high revs / temps. If you like a spirited drive stick some decent stuff in
MilesH Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 Please don't use this if you are planning to track your car, I wrecked an engine after it was used with an engine of mine, it just can't take high revs/temps as Graeme suggests. I also used it in a 1zz engine that was burning oil slightly, it went through it far quicker than an equivalent (Fuchs) oil - same grade.
Eric Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 As a rule of thumb, you should never, ever skimp on oil. It's the most important component in your engine!! You should insist on the best for your beloved Lotus and that will usually mean paying around £40 to £50 for 5L of 5-40 full synthetic from Mr Opie (Oil Man).

How about £40 including an OEM filter? http://www.midlandslotus.co.uk/forum/classifieds/item/761-5w40-oil-service-kit-k-series-lotus-elise-lotus-exige-340r/

I've just had a look at the Fuchs tub I've got in stock (under the stairs) and it's actually Titan Race Pro S 5-40. Me thinks just a couple of notches up from the cheaper SuperSyn, and a "must have" for supercharged 2ZR and 2ZZ engines.
graeme_laslett Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 The Titan Pro Race S (and R) are probably the best oils we have come across and use it in our race cars. We will be stocking the 5w40 Pro Race range in the very near future so watch this space.
