John FISH Curtis
Spent three hours this afternoon fitting engine mount inserts (yellow powerflex). Car is transformed .... engine movement has virtually gone resulting in a precise gear change. Car seems to drive better, throttling on/off the car is more compliant and direct in power delivery. Vibration is evident at idle but certainly nothing to ruin the experience and this will improve as the miles increase. Easy to fit and only £40.00. Cannot recommend this mod enough...... get it on your Christmas list !
M@r]{
These the ones that go on the gearbox? Two of them? I was getting some unwanted play, got worse tail end of last year, told Gav on the next service and he suggested these polyurethane ones that Eliseparts do. Worst thing I've ever done to a car, the amount of vibration it's put through to the cabin is shocking. Anything more than a half hour drive and you get out feeling as though every sense has been battered. I drove the car to from Mallory (45mins) and I felt battered at the end of it. This is a car that with the old bushes I drove to the Nurburgring in and felt fine on arrival. The worst bit is trying to get them taken out, trying to find the OEM bushes is proving tricky. So if that's what you have done and you have the oem ones fancy selling them to me, I'll give you a zillion zillion pounds for them
John FISH Curtis
Mark, its these (full set) which are inserts not complete engine rubbers....... http://www.eliseparts.com/products/show/85/976/toyota-polyurethane-engine-stay-inserts/ There is a black coloured version which is a harder compound = more vibration. Yeah mine were just inserts, not sure on the colour though, need to check with Gav because if there is a softer option that could be the answer to my problems, just get the softer ones. John FISH Curtis
Im certainly not getting vibration when on the move. Open your boot and look down at the rear mount, if yellow they will stand out.
cjwjames
I agree with John they transform the driving experiance however Alan S1 recommended the ones from Elise shop at 80 quid .. also had mine fitted by GAV and I get no vibration back in the car ( nothing to take your teeth out ) Hope this helps Colin
AlanS1
I have the black ones from Elise Shop. You get a little more vibration at idle, but that is a little price to pay for the big improvement in the gear change and very little movement on the engine now. I drove it to Spa earlier this year with MLOC no problems at all. I have also changed the gearbox oil for the redline stuff. Another big improvement on the gear change, especially when cold. Hey - Thanks Fish (long time no see!), For 40 smackers this is a no brainer, will get some & give them a go...
Bryno
I also have the EliseShop black £80 ones, supposedly softer than the Poweflex yellow and the Powerfex black ones. After a few miles I don't really notice any more vibration on tickover and gear change is nice, agreed a worthwhile mod for sure whichever inserts you go for.. kieranexige
Best modification I've done to mine. Was amazed when I bought the car how much you could feel the engine rock on & off full load. A few hours on the garage floor and job done. Mine have been ona year now (realistically 1000 miles) and they have beded in a treat. The vibration at tick over has reduced significantly whilst still maintaining the stiffness under load. (Powerflex Yellow)
M@r]{
I'm absolutely amazed by all the positive reviews of this - now questioning whether mine have been fitted correctly but as it was Gav I can't see that being the issue???

Are you sure it's not just OMS* Mark? Will you be wanting more padding on your seats and a quieter exhaust and air filter soon? ;-) * Old Man Syndrome
