mambosasa Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Great project. Yes, bigger photos please. Keep the updates going.
stratosboy Posted November 24, 2013 Author Posted November 24, 2013 just trying for bigger pics.... loom going in next why can't I get pics to come out larger? - I've resized and saved them in library
chris_h Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 They are big, you just need to click on them.
stratosboy Posted December 24, 2013 Author Posted December 24, 2013 Hardtop is now finished, with some strengthening ribs added to underneath main roof area, as it was too flimsy now repainted and ready to come home. I'll post some more with rear lexicon screen fitted and roof on car. Happy Christmas folks!
Steve J Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Not far to go now. You'll not be wanting to use it as it'll be absolutely mint when bolted back together.
stratosboy Posted December 27, 2013 Author Posted December 27, 2013 oh there is far to go!!....too cold to do anything in my fridge garage at the moment, I hope it does look good, but it will be used.....hard! - they are great handling cars and I'm hoping the more modern running gear will give a further handling boost, especially with 180 bhp I'm expecting in 650 kg car...should be nippy!
Sundaydriver Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Stratos also on my bucket list, like the E Type , that's purely nostalgia and looks wrapped up with the memory of teenage hormones or something ha ha ! The Elan however, always wanted one, it's a gem !!! How close to original suspension are you aiming for, and will that motor affect the cars balance compared to 'twink' ? Dave C
stratosboy Posted October 6, 2014 Author Posted October 6, 2014 Sorry for delay in responding Dave C, not been back on here for a while. Not sure how this car will drive compared to original elan, I had an old S4 about 30 years ago and that was great. Spyder suspension is very similar at front, but uses different set up at rear, it should be better, with better brakes and dampers. Scorpio LSD diff too. Car is coming on now, body been on and off a few times to get alignment, central mounted fuel tank - sorted. electrics almost completed. I'll post some recent pics soon
stratosboy Posted September 27, 2015 Author Posted September 27, 2015 It's been a while since I posted an update, so here's some pics of new Lotus Man Cave.... Elan is still not finished, lots of electrical work going on inside dash. Exige is fantastic, much, much better than my previous S2.
stratosboy Posted February 1, 2016 Author Posted February 1, 2016 a couple of pics from last summer, but I'm still a way off finishing yet. I'm dismantling again at the moment as fuel sender unit isn't reading right and is impossible to get at without taking lots of stuff off again!!
